• Rage 2 free on Epic Games Store next week - 12 February 2021

  Punky purple post-apocalyptic shooter Rage 2 is the next free title available for PC via the Epic Games Store. id Software and Just Cause developer Avalanche Studio's fun but underloved sequel will be available to claim from 18th to 25th February, the same dates as top-down indie racer Absolute Drift. Rage 2 has racing of a different kind, with Mad Max style road combat and shooting. The game's gunplay earned itself points in Eurogamer's Rage 2 review , though Vikki Blake wrote that its open-world setting ended up letting the rest of it down. Read more

  Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. I have often related how, whilst covering E3 2018 from the UK, I was watching Bethesda’s live show at some ungodly hour in the morning, having not slept for some days because of watching other live shows at ungodly hours in the morning, and suddenly Andrew W.K. happened . He and his band absolutely crushing Ready To Die (Mr. W.K. proving he is indeed a very accomplished piano player in the process) whilst the camera kept cutting to Bethesda’s visibly bemused live audience of tired journalists and industry investors and producers – one woman even has her mouth hanging open – broke something within me and I laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe and nearly fell off my chair. • Rage 2, Injustice 2, and F1 2020 headline PlayStation Now's latest editions - 30 October 2020

  As October prepares to conclude in a flurry of socially distanced shrieks and spooks, Sony returns with another batch of additions to its PlayStation Now subscription service, this time including the likes of Rage 2, Injustice 2, and F1 2020. Rage 2, of course, is Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios' open-world take on id Software's 2010 post-apocalyptic FPS. Avalanche's neon-flecked sequel comes packed with "plenty of balls-to-the-wall action and beautifully distressed setpieces", as Eurogamer contributor Vikki Blake put it in her review , even if its blandly implemented open-world lets the side down. • Rage 2's first DLC lets you telekinetically hurl ghosts - 27 September 2019

  Rage 2 ‘s wasteland is riddled with ghosts, thanks to its first whack of DLC. Sadly, though, the rising ghosts in Rise Of The Ghosts are not spectral nasties, but a bandit clan from the first game. Someone has taken over and experimented on everyone until they’ve got superpowers though, so that’s good. More importantly, yesterday’s DLC added a new Nanotripe ability that lets you telekinetically hurl people about like in Control . I am keen to do this in a videogame that is not Control. (more…)

• Rise of the Ghosts FAQ/Known Issues - 26 September 2019

  Hey Rangers! RAGE 2's first DLC has arrived! You can find everything you need to know right here, in the official FAQ for Rise of the Ghosts. If you have any additional questions, let us know! How to access the Rise Of The Ghosts DLC: Players must be signed into a Bethesda.net account with Rise Of The Ghosts entitlements. The DLC can be accessed as soon as the player has completed “The Ranger” mission and visits any of the trade towns in the main game. The player will receive a radio call when leaving any trade town, which marks the location of the ark that starts the first mission for the DLC. Completing the “Captive” mission will give the player full access to the Overgrown City region. Once the player has visited the “Metro Station” location and talked to Keenan Ford, they will be able to fast travel to the location like any other trade town in the game. • Rage 2's Rise of the Ghosts expansion is out at the end of September - 9 September 2019

  Post-apocalyptic open-world shooter Rage 2's first big expansion, Rise of the Ghosts, is heading to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on 26th September, bringing with it a new enemy faction and "huge" new region. In Rise of the Ghosts, players go up against the new Ghost faction, a "ruthless, vicious, tactical and cruel" group of meanies that fled to the mysterious Overgrown City during the time of the Authority War. Now they're back, brainwashed, and out for blood. According to publisher Bethesda, the expansion's new story content will see players battling the Ghosts on their own turf, exploring the substantially sized Overgrown City region with a new weapon - the Feltrite Laser Launcher - and a new ability. The latter, known as Void, can either be used to suspend opponents in the air ready for some additional damage, or can be focussed to make their heads explode. Read more

  Google held another one of their Stadia Connect conferences today, and this one was meant to be all about what games you’ll be playing in the “ scary ” cloud come November. Sure enough, there were new Stadia games aplenty announced this evening, with the biggest addition being Cyberpunk 2077 . To help keep track of them all, here’s a list of every Google Stadia game confirmed so far, as well as which games are coming at launch, which ones will be arriving a little bit later, and which games you’ll only be able to play by subscribing to one of the special Stadia publisher subscriptions . • Rage 2 update brings New Game+ and some bloody hard new modes - 26 July 2019

  Do you remember Rage 2 ? It had this whole wacky pink-neon punk vibe going on before launch. For a hot second, I was pumped to become some mad blue-haired lass battering the wasteland with a baseball bat. Turns out, nah, you’re some future cop called Walker (who in a cruel twist, drives around more than they walk) out to ruin the party for everyone. Rubbish. Avalanche Studios probably aren’t gonna rebuild a whole game just for me. But they are going to try to tempt folk back with some bloody hard new modes, a truckload of quality-of-life changes, and stickers. (more…)
