Obviously titles like Grounded and Pentiment were the big reveals in terms of Microsoft games on Switch today, but there were actually a few more announced too. In fact it's five more, to be specific, all of them being classic titles from Banjo Kazooie developer Rare, all coming to Nintendo Switch Online. First up, there's Snake Rattle 'n' Roll, a game originally released on the NES and Sega Mega Drive, where you have to eat various creatures in order to gain enough weight to ring a bell, opening the door to the next level (yeah, a bit of a weird one, I know). Pro-Am, a racing game for the NES, arcade, and Mega Drive that saw you controlling radio-controlled cars, where you had to fight your opponents across the race track, collecting power-ups along the way. The 2013 Killer Instinct reboot is 10 years old now, and to celebrate its anniversary the game is getting a whole new edition, as well as being free-to-play everywhere. Earlier this week, Killer Instinct turned 10, as much as that might age some of you. And developer Iron Galaxy shared in a recent blog post all of the big changes coming to the game, including the base game being free for everyone. Previously, on Xbox One, the game was available as a free-to-play title, but on PC you had to buy it outright. Now, the base game will be free-to-play on all platforms, including Xbox One, Series X/S, and PC. The Definitive Edition of the game will also no longer exist, instead being replaced by the Anniversary Edition. Killer Instinct fans, rejoice, as the classic fighting game will be receiving a 10th anniversary update later this year. It's EVO at the moment, essentially Christmas for the fighting game community, and there have already been plenty of announcements that players have been plenty excited about. One of the most surprising, though, is that yesterday (August 5), it was announced that Killer Instinct would be getting an update later this year to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Oh christ, it has horns now. I’m sure it makes sense: in a fighting game, you probably want your characters to be decisively punchable. And boy, I sure would love to deck Rash right about now. - Killer Instinct PC Game Pass bug leaves players with only one character unlocked - 29 July 2019
Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition is one of the latest additions to Game Pass for Xbox One and PC , and claims to include all 26 characters from seasons one to three of the game. However, players are discovering a bug with the PC Game Pass version, making it so the only playable character is Rash from Battletoads. Killer Instinct publisher Microsoft says it is aware of the issue, and tweeted on 26th July to say the problem is being worked on. But, as of today, players are still reporting the bug has yet to be fixed, and according to one eagle-eyed Twitter user the issue is due to Game Pass providing PC players with the Xbox files for the game. Microsoft has announced a fresh batch of titles coming to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service this month, on both Xbox One and PC, including the likes of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition. Working in chronological order, 17th July sees the arrival of intriguing "non-linear, narrative-driven noire investigation" mystery Night Call on PC. A day later, on 18th July, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain comes to Xbox Game Pass on Xbox One, and The Banner Saga 3 - the final entry in Stoic Games' critically acclaimed Viking series - arrives for Xbox One and PC. Rounding off the month, on 25th July, are Shinji Mikami's survival horror classic Resident Evil 4 (Xbox One), superb tabletop RPG rogue-like For The King (PC), and Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition - which includes all 26 characters from Seasons 1-3 - for both Xbox One and PC.
