There's no denying that Star Wars and the Oculus Quest 2 are an ideal pairing, with Meta's best VR headset providing the perfect platform to enact your Force-fillled fantasies in games like Vader Immortal and Tales from the Galaxy's Edge. However, if you're hungering for more VR adventures set in George Lucas' sci-fi universe, an upcoming fan remake may be just what you're looking for. Guido Mariano has shared work in progress footage ( via UploadVR ) of their attempt to develop a fan remake of a classic Star Wars game, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. The latest clip shared by Mariano sees them assuming the role of protagonist Kyle Katarn, using their lightsaber to cut down stormtroopers and deflect their blaster bolts. Mariano also showcases the ability to slice objects like crates and then manipulate debris with the Force. For you rogues who'd prefer to gun down the Empire's bucketheads…

A listing for a Star Wars Racer and Star Wars Republic Commando bundle for Nintendo Switch and PS4 recently appeared on Amazon, suggesting that a rerelease of the two popular Star Wars games is making their way to Switch and PS4. Amazon listed this potential bundle for a November 16 release, developed by Aspyr and published by THQ Nordic. This bundle continues a renaissance of sorts for beloved Star Wars games released in generations past coming back to modern consoles. The Jedi Knight games were rereleased in 2019 and appeared in a bundle some time later. Whether the best Star Wars game is Knights of the Old Republic , Empire at War , Stellaris , or, er, Civilization 6 , we can all agree: Jedi Outcast is the best Star Wars game. Modder Mr Zyanide has made use of the path tracer in Quake 2 RTX to build JK2RTX - a fully path traced version of Star Wars: Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast. While Star Wars games have become increasingly shoddy over the years, they were once consistently pleasing. In memory of the late, great LucasArts, shut down by Disney, Raven has released the source code of two such games from the Jedi Knight series, Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy . If you missed them in the early noughties, they were the first solid ways to have decent multiplayer lightsaber battles. "We loved and appreciated the experience of getting to make Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy for LucasArts," Raven said in a statement provided to Kotaku . "As a gift to the persistently loyal fanbase for our Jedi games and in memory of LucasArts, we are releasing the source code for both games for people to enjoy and play with."
