It has been over 7 years since we released Welcome to Hanwell, and to celebrate the launch of it's sequel, Beyond Hanwell, Welcome to Hanwell is being made free to everyone, forever. This decision has been made to remove any barrier to anybody that wants to explore the Hanwell universe more deeply, Beyond Hanwell is a standalone game, and does not require you to play Welcome to Hanwell, but there are many references and lots of lore that can be expanded by playing the first game before (or after) diving into Beyond Hanwell. To all who paid and supported us by paying for and playing Welcome to Hanwell, I cannot thank you enough, without you Beyond Hanwell would not exist, and I'm currently in talks with Valve to figure out exactly how you can be rewarded for being there before this moment. I've been busy recently with real life but after checking the community discussion boards it seems there were a couple of issues that needed addressing quickly. Added mouse sensitivity under in game settings. Fixed bugged achievement Class One Citizen. Although updates have slowed down, I'm still committed to supporting the game while ever I can. Thanks! UPDATE: You should see it in your library now. Hey everyone! I'm really sorry there has been a delay with you receiving your copies of The Council of Hanwell but I wanted to assure you I'm working on it. The problem being that Valve do not work over the weekends and I am relying entirely on them to fix this issue as it is beyond the scope afforded to us normal developers. I've requested urgent support through every channel available. But we have to remember how many games Valve has to deal with now. Hi everybody! I'm proud to release The Council of Hanwell today and even prouder to offer it to anyone that owned a copy of Welcome to Hanwell before 5pm GMT today a free copy. I'm just working out the kinks with Valve and Then Steam Team so you if you are one of those people, thank you for the support and you should see The Council of Hanwell in your library within a few hours. Hi guys! I'd like to announce The Council of Hanwell, a condensed horror experience consisting of the major locations from Welcome to Hanwell in a linear story driven package. In addition to the main story from Welcome to Hanwell you'll get 3 new game modes: Survival, a wave based survival mini game. Escape, an incredibly tense stealth mode in which you must avoid The Brute and escape from different scenarios. Prototype, a bonus map of the very earliest gameplay from Welcome to Hanwell. Plus a graphical overhaul adding new effects such as Volumetric Fog and new 4K environmental textures and character skins. Best of all, anyone that bought Welcome to Hanwell before The Council of Hanwell's release will receive a copy of The Council of Hanwell absolutely free! Thanks for the amazing support! Nathan
- Hotfix 1.3.6 - 26 February 2018
We just put out a hotfix to address some issues with keybinding. The Axis Rebind menu option has been removed and we have bound the arrow keys to character movement along with WASD. So you can now play with WASD or arrowkeys and rebind all other actions from the key rebind menu. This will be of particular benefit to left handed players. Thanks, Nathan

Hey Gamers! I'm pleased to present you with the latest update of Welcome to Hanwell! It's a last minute minor update but should enhance the game considerably. I finally got Key Rebinding implemented, this has been a particularly hot request so I'm incredibly excited to finally have it done. My apologies to everyone who expected Rebinding to be present at launch and was disappointed as a result, I hope you can now fully enjoy the game! Note: This should be considered a beta feature until I can work out the kinks should any arise. Also, be aware that changing the bind of a key will not affect the tutorial prompts. Play update 1.3.5, this should be the final smaller update before we roll out the big one after we finish the migration from Unreal Engine 4.15 to 4.18. New Features: 2 New Locations 2 New Weapons Enhanced blood effects for more brutal feeling fights. Bug Fixes: Fixed a bug that would prevent some players from leaving the church. Fixed an exploit that could give you an unlimited frying pan (the thing is overpowered enough without it being limitless :D) Fixed a rare bug that could cause trees to render incorrectly through heavy fog. - Hotfix 1.3.1 - 6 December 2017
Just a few minor bug fixes here. Fixed a bug that would cause controller input to lose the X-Axis on the right thumbstick. Added blindsight to the third person camera. Fixed a bug that could detach the first person camera on the Z rotation axis when the kill cam is running. Made changes to ensure The Brute's kill camera is possessed when he catches you. Note: I forgot to update the version number so it'll still read 1.3, as long as it's running through Steam, you can be sure it is the latest version. Thanks guys! Nathan
