- Operation Overhaul Dev Blog #4: Large scale maps - 27 July 2026
IntroIn our last dev blog, we introduced several new maps and reworks arriving with the Operation Overhaul update. Those were mostly small and medium sized maps, with the exception of a brand new map called Mesa which is larger. Now we’re going to show off some of the larger reworks and another brand new map. Peaks (New)Peaks was one of the first brand new maps created for the BattleBit Operation Overhaul update. Over the past year, it has undergone several improvements, including upgraded foliage and environmental detail, as well as a complete bunker redesign. The bunker has been reworked to improve navigation and to better accommodate 254 player battles in the Domination game mode.Players will fight in a valley surrounded by two towering mountain ranges. The northern mountain is home to a massive bunker with multiple entrances, creating intense close quarters combat. Peaks is classifi…
- Operation Overhaul Dev Blog #3: New maps - 27 May 2026
IntroOperation Overhaul will introduce new maps, such as Mesa and Aftermath, which we’re ready to show off in detail today. The update will also feature completely reworked or updated versions of almost every map in rotation, such as Lonovo and Salhan featured below. If you want to read about some of Overhaul’s gameplay changes and vehicles and weapon visual fidelity, check out our last post here.Mesa (New)Mesa is one of our most ambitious urban maps. It features a dense American city surrounded by a large scale desert wasteland. Both teams start in the outskirts and progress from a small scale city environment to a downtown area of office centers and skyscrapers. For balance and readability purposes, a majority of buildings will only have first and second floors accessible. However, players will still have access to all rooftops for sniping. Players will fight between skyscrapers (B an…
- Operation Overhaul Dev Blog #2: Gameplay changes, weapons, vehicles - 27 March 2026
We’ve obviously been working on this update for a while and only started communicating in earnest about it more recently. In all that time, we've never really sat down and fully explained what exactly the update is all about and some of the major changes coming with it.Two big parts of our intentions with Overhaul are to improve gameplay and visual quality. In this specific post, we will be explaining some of the gameplay changes (all subject to change in upcoming playtesting) as well as showing off updated art on weapons, attachments and vehicles. We’ll cover some of the other things in the update in later dev blogs.GameplayClass weapon poolsWe believe a large-scale military class based shooter like ours is best balanced and most fun when weapon availability reflects class role. We saw a lot of the feedback Battlefield 6 received regarding open weapons on all classes, and we wondered i…
- Operation Overhaul Dev Blog #1: Memory leak, vehicle physics, ricochets - 27 January 2026
We want to give you all an update on what we’ve been working on since the playtest, which includes the memory leak, tracers, and vehicle physics. Plus we’ve got a new “ricochet” detail that we want to show off.Memory Leak UpdateWe found that audio was the main cause of our memory leak in our last playtest. We have been using Unity’s audio system and up until this point it has been working. However with Operation Overhaul’s amount of sounds we implemented and how they interact with each other, the system overwhelmed over time as more audio was played and cached. To remedy this, we have made the decision to switch everything over to FMOD Audio engine. Regarding the bullet tracers, we completely reworked them and are continuing to optimize them. Our sound designer MF_Kitten can give a little more detail on why we made this decision:When we started the audio side of the overhaul, we were doi…
- Nov 29th Playtest Debrief - 15 December 2025
We want to start this off by thanking everyone who participated in this playtest! We gained some much needed feedback not only about the performance issues (more on that later) but as well as a lot of the changes we’ve done overall. We received a great amount of feedback not only from our official feedback form but also from Reddit, Discord and Steam. We’ve been reading through all your comments, messages, survey results, and forum posts. The responses have been insightful to say the least, and each response is helping us further develop BattleBit into a game we all love and enjoy. The official survey has been especially helpful with collecting feedback we may otherwise have missed in the past. We definitely will be looking to run these more in our future open playtests to better understand player needs and wants.Let’s go through some of the top takeaways from our test and talk about nex…

We're in a position now where we finally feel things are ready to be put in your hands for testing, and we hope you're happy with what we've been cooking up. First test is targeted for end of November 2025 (next month). There will be multiple tests, all of which will be scheduled for weekends.Accessed via the Steam beta branch of BBR (a guide will be provided, don’t worry it’s pretty straightforward). This is a technical playtest, so expect bugs and iterations. This will be our first opportunity to hear your feedback on Operation Overhaul. - After months of silence, Steam FPS Battlebit is suddenly mounting a big comeback - 16 June 2025
Rewind to June 2023, and it looked like Battlebit was going to transform multiplayer FPS games. It had huge maps, destruction physics, and 254-player lobbies. It was also cheap, quick to download, and easy to run on even middling machines - if Call of Duty, Battlefield, EFT, and the other shooter titans were bloated and prohibitively pricey, Battlebit was proof that action and accessibility mattered more than gauche production value. At its peak, it achieved a concurrent player record of over 87,000. But then Battlebit tailed off. And then it went quiet. Then silent. Two years after it was released, Battlebit's player count was way down, its recent Steam reviews were mostly negative, and developer SgtOkiDoki was AWOL. But now everything has changed. A big new Battlebit update is happening. Read the rest of the story... RELATED LINKS: Amazing 9/10 FPS game is now free to play, for a whil…
- Feedback Update - 2 March 2024
Just a quick heads up, applications are open for another week. You can find that here: Feedback Application We would also like to clear some things up pertaining to this. First, this application does not mean this is the one and only way we are going to get feedback. Social platforms are still a great place to provide feedback, and we intend to be more actively engaged there. We will be posting more official discussion threads before and after updates, dev casts, etc. This is something we should have been doing more frequently as it’s an acknowledgment that we are actively listening to you. Secondly, the Feedback Group is more of a focus group. Members of the group will be asked specific questions by the devs that come up in development, better informing decision making during the process. This is different than our social platforms like Discord and Reddit, where we look for new ideas f…
- Community Guidelines Update - 28 February 2024
The Trust and Safety team has made some updates to our in-game Community Guidelines, you can check it out here: https://joinbattlebit.com/guidelines/ To be clear, these aren’t new rules - we’ve always had these behavior expectations in place. These guidelines were put together to be a more approachable way for the community to understand these expectations, in contrast to the legal jargon of the EULA. While these guidelines are nothing new, we do hope you take a moment to read them through. Our goal in this is to be more transparent and communicative about our safety practices, and we thank you for the feedback that inspired us to create this.

- 2024 and Battlebit - 15 January 2024
Apologies for the late update. 2023 was an exciting year for us entering Early Access, but it was also a massive learning year for us as well. As we entered the new year we’ve been hard at work with a lot of new processes and updates. Roadmap update: BattleBit Remastered has chosen to stray away from using a roadmap at this time. This decision allows the development team the flexibility to address emerging priorities, respond to player feedback promptly, and make dynamic adjustments without being constrained by a predetermined timeline. We are working on a way to create a more balanced expectation and better transparency between the community and Developers. Internal Restructure: To ensure that BattleBit Remastered continues to deliver an unparalleled gaming experience, we have been undergoing an internal restructuring this month. This revamp is aimed at optimizing our processes, enhanc…

It's no secret that 2023 was a big year for games, but the top sellers on Steam for the year include a couple of surprise indie hits that managed to go toe to toe with the big boys. What do you think the best selling game on Steam was in 2023? You'll only need one guess, but I'm not even going to give you the opportunity to do so, because it's Baldur's Gate 3. Who could have seen that coming! Literally everyone. This comes from industry analyst site Video Game Insights , who recently shared a report on the best selling and top earning games of 2023 on Steam - and yeah, Baldur's Gate 3 was the top earner too, you also won't be surprised to hear. According to Video Game Insights, Baldur's Gate 3 earned $657 million in revenue last year, almost twice as much as the second place game Hogwarts Legacy, which apparently took in $341 million. As the report notes, though, third place went to Sta…
