- Zombie Assault: Resurgence - Dev Diary #13 - Steam Next Fest! - 30 January 2026
Ten-Hut, Mercs! It’s the first dev diary of the year, and it’s a good one! We’re incredibly excited to share that a demo version of Zombie Assault: Resurgence will be participating in Steam’s Next Fest, running from February 23rd to March 2nd!For many of you, this will be the first time you’ve been able to get hands-on with the game. For others, it’ll be a good opportunity to see what has changed since our last public playtest! We’ve been very intentional with what we’ve packed into this demo, with enough content to get a feel for the systems, classes, and chaos, while still leaving plenty of surprises for full launch. This demo is designed to showcase the core gameplay loop, progression systems, and co-op experience at the heart of Zombie Assault: Resurgence, so let’s break down what’s included…What’s in the Next Fest demo?Weapons, Gear, & SupportCommon and Uncommon guns, giving you acc…
- [ SAS INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS - SECURE ] >> - 12 December 2025
We’ve been going through the old files on Kurios station, and we’ve found references to a weapons cache the old Government had hidden away in case of emergency. How a zombie outbreak across the system didn’t constitute enough of a situation to crack it open, yet destroying an entire planet was ok is anyone’s guess. Though I guess that’s why they’re now the old Government. We have the list of likely locations, and we’re double-checking all possibilities. We’ve already started dispatching teams across the system to follow clues to the cache’s location. Do what you can to keep zombie numbers under control and give the teams room to work. If we’re lucky, we’ll all be much better armed soon. As always, your rewards will be worth the effort!
- [ SAS EMERGENCY TRANSMISSION - SAON ] - 24 October 2025
\Requesting immediate support! Some sort of rift has opened up here on Saon and what can only be described as a giant monster has stepped out of it! It’s massive and is just shrugging off any attacks against it. We Need Help! What’s worse is that zombies are also pouring out of the rift. We need reinforcements here, and we need everyone we have to be putting down as many zombies as they can to keep numbers under control while we figure out what the hell is going on!If you all rally together to keep the hordes at bay, you will be handsomely rewarded!
- Despite the setbacks, our mission is unchanged. - 9 August 2025
\ >> Thank you for your assistance in our research. Your help is greatly appreciated and the compensation we have provided doesn't begin to match the sacrifice you and your fellow agents have made for the U.S.I. It appears that the team we sent for the Montano Seed were unsuccessful. Thankfully this time we managed to get some readings. Unfortunately, they don't appear to make any sense. Despite the team deploying to Boreas, we received the data as if it came from Aartis. Our scientists will continue to work on this, we will be in contact if we are in need of any more assistance from Thrace. \ >> Our recent operations both directly, and via our subsidiaries, have improved our integration with the U.S.I. to levels far beyond what we had predicted. We are now in a position to ensure our own contractors are the first options for any future U.S.I. military initiatives. The speed at which we…

- Do Your Part! Final Milestone! - 30 July 2025
\ >> Your work against the zombies is amazing. We couldn't wish for greater partners in these tests. This has confirmed that somehow the zombie populations are being reinforced. Their numbers drop significantly, yet over time we see them climb again. This seems to be only true where the radiation is detected. We had a squad run a controlled outbreak on a remote planet and they were able to wipe out the small zombie population without issue. Doing our due diligence, we ran tests of Kurios to be sure. No radiation is being detected on the station. Going over the old data, we have discovered a team was sent to retrieve the Montano Seed, suspected to be the origin of this strange radiation. We're sending another team to finish this job. To help them, please continue to control the zombie population. Despite our last transmission, your work is vital to our research and survival as a species.
- Mission Complete! - 9 June 2025
>> Despite our heavy losses, Kurios is ours and our technicians are currently ripping COMBOT’s influence out of the remaining systems onboard. USI intelligence has been in contact too. This push against the AI has been a major victory. Its presence in the Mobius sector is still strong but our Fleet has gained a foothold in the system. They’ve identified that COMBOT’s stronghold appears to be the AEGIS space station. Hopefully they can learn from what we did here to take AEGIS. I wish we could join them, but we’re still quarantined.
- Take Back Thrace! Fourth Milestone Achieved! - 27 May 2025
Abandoned in the Thrace System, SAS soldiers launch an offensive to secure a safe haven. All SAS soldiers must work together to reach the milestones and reap the rewards. All mission types contribute toward the goal.\ >> Ignore those messages. Combot is running scared. I didn’t know it was possible to scare an A.I. but I’m enjoying the fact that we’ve frightened the hell out of its processes. That’s because we’re winning. We’ve made good progress into the main sphere of Kurios. We’re seeing less zombdroids active in the field. Combot’s having to rely on using the station’s own systems against us. Closing entryways, causing delays while it attempts to shepherd zombies to flank our forces. But we’re wise and our techs are doing a great job from cutting the AI out of a number of systems. Taking back its control over automated turrets is what caused that barrage of misinformation. Once we ta…

Set 100 years after the events of SAS: Zombie Assault 4, the Thrace system was lost to zombies and the SAS is no more. The fate of the whole sector now lies in the hands of mercenaries. Select one of three character classes (each with their own special traits, abilities and upgrade trees), make your mercenary stronger with RPG-style upgrades, and build an arsenal of armour and weaponry to give the planet the best chance of survival!
