• Yuji Naka casually confirms Michael Jackson's involvement in Sonic 3 - 23 June 2022

  Out of nowhere, former head of Sonic Team Yuji Naka has confirmed that Michael Jackson did in fact have a hand in the creation of the Sonic 3 soundtrack - following years of SEGA officially denying his involvement. Since Michael Jackson’s involvement was never formally confirmed, Yugi Naka has basically confirmed one of the biggest rumours surrounding the franchise. This casual confirmation came via Yuji Naka’s own twitter account, where he expressed shock at the change in soundtrack in the classic Sega platformer. This, as you can imagine, has left plenty of gaming trivia heads, speculators, or just plain old fans of the fastest hedgehog in gaming stunned. • SEGA is delisting classic Sonic games ahead of Sonic Origins release - 26 April 2022

  SEGA has announced it will no longer sell select Sonic games digitally after May 20. The company announced the move in a short press release today, without providing further color. This means that standalone versions of Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD will no longer be available on digital storefronts after that date. Read more

  Humble unveiled a brand-new game bundle last night and it’s absolutely rammed with Sonic games . There are 12 in total, ranging from the blue blur’s early forays into marathon running and chilli-dog eating with Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD all the way through to his more recent revivals in games such as Sonic Generations and Sonic Mania .   For a complete genetic freak of a hedgehog (he’s blue!), Sonic’s not done too badly. His latest adventure - Sonic Generations - sees the speedy erinaceinae travel through time with his mates and hopefully revisit the period of history before Sonic titles became a bit poo. Pre-order the title on Steam and you’ll get Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic 3 and Knuckles chucked in, gratis. If you weren’t alive in the 1990s, 3D Blast is the uncontrollable isometric one, but Sonic 3 and Knuckles still stands up, with Knuckles as a Moriarty to Sonic’s Holmes. That’s on top of the original Sonic the Hedgehog, which is an unlockable within Sonic Generations itself. That’s like meta-meta textuality. Generations runs and rolls onto Steam on 4 November for £19.99.
