• Friday Update #3 - 29 May 2020

  This update was a long time coming, finally implemented the ability to customize note colors! Future plans include delay offsetting, custom highway images, custom backgrounds, and a song editor. In other news, I recently received a promotion at my full time job giving my more responsibility. This will definitely effect my ability to work on games for a while. • FIXED CONTROL BUG - 11 May 2020

  I fixed the notorious controls not rebinding or working glitch that prevented people from playing. I'm really sorry about this glitch; it was a serious issue. It was only occurring for new players or people who hadn't completed a song yet. I wasn't properly handling the new feature in new save data files. To fail is to learn and based on MusicWave's reviews, I'm learning a lot. It's okay though, I knew this game would be rough around the edges when I released it in Early Access and the only way for the game to improve as well as my own game development habits is to move forward. This bug was game breaking, but hopefully you guys can forgive me and give it another chance. As always, thanks for playing. -Stephen

• MASSIVE visual improvements. Suprise! - 10 May 2020

  I've had it on my list for a while to update MusicWave's GUI and this was long overdue. The visuals are a lot more fun and informative! Here's what's changed: Better placement of GUI meters New streak meter shows how close you are to each 50 increment. Animations and distinct colors for each meter so you can tell what it says without reading it. Multiplier meter now shows your streak progress Orbs are gold if you haven't missed a note FC indicator (Full combo (Having never missed a note or pressed something incorrectly)) Let me know if you like the new visuals! Might even change a few more things before supporting custom skinning, I just want everything to be where it should be. As for the control update bug: I cannot recreate the bug you guys are talking about where you cannot rebind your controls. • Friday Update #1 - 8 May 2020

  I'm a little light on the update this week. I wasn't able ton finish the song charts on time due to final exams and projects. I hope you can forgive me, I promise when the semester ends I'll be more regular on the updates! This update is still important, it adds the ability to rebind controls; something requested by almost every positive and negative review. It also adds some small optimizations throughout. • Important! About the developer - 4 May 2020

  Hey guys, I'm really excited to grow MusicWave with the community, and so far the suggestions have been really productive for the game's development! I really appreciate anyone who's enjoying the game and giving feedback on how to improve it. That being said, the updates are tough for me to roll out because making games is only a hobby for me at the moment; well, my favorite hobby. The thing is I'm finishing my degrees in math and computer science this year while also working full time as a software developer for an engineering firm. These two things consume a lot of my time as well as personal stuff and my somewhat existing social life. That being said, I try to work on MusicWave an hour a day at least, but some weeks everything lines up and I have very little time to push updates or respond to comments. • Major Game Mechanic Change - 2 May 2020

  I decided that MusicWave was too difficult and extremely unfriendly to beginners. There's really no need for a losing functionality anyways, that only makes players want to quit. I want people to get practice while also getting score, practice mode felt like a waste of time. I decided to change the mechanics so people can get through the easy charts while getting better and having fun. Here are the two simple yet effective changes: No more losing. Missing a note or pressing the wrong key subtracts 30 points. This will score players better for being more accurate but allow people to make mistakes early on. I hope these changes make the game more fun and playable. If you tried it and didn't like it, give the game another try! • Practice mode added! - 2 May 2020

  The most requested feature was a practice mode. I quickly added it because I don't want new players to feel discouraged from trying! Still, I do admit that the difficulty curve is way too steep, there aren't nearly enough easy songs and still no beginner songs at the moment. I need to find some easier songs for beginners to start out on. Until then, then game will just have to be difficult. Hopefully the new practice mode will help people feel more comfortable with the controls and mechanics.
