Patch 1.04 has been released. Improved Online Multiplayer menus to get a more direct access to open games. In online multiplayer added the ability to play another stage with the same team without having to rematch. Improved loading times. Additional languages now supported: French, Italian, Spanish, German. The Weekly Stage is now open from Tuesday to Sunday every week. The Mana, Ice and Missile tower are now slightly more efficient. Other bug fixes.

Patch 1.01 has been released. This patch adds several features that have been requested by fans. Feature changes: 1) Zoom is now adjustable. 2) Quick toggle added to see the entire playable map at once. 3) Local co-op warp removed. The camera will now auto-zoom to keep both players on screen. 4) Local co-op tower menu readability is improved. They now slide out from the player that opened them, and they will always be on "your" side of the screen. 4) Toggle to show all towers' current XP and level. 5) Cloud saves 6) Faster network game joining. The game now directly loads into the lobby. 7) The game immediately saves when you buy or equip a mask or carapace. New control overview. - PixelJunk Monsters 2 review - a colourful treat and a workout for the brain - 30 May 2018
Tower defence games are tricky things, I reckon. At their worst - and their worst is generally still pretty entertaining - they can feel a bit like clicker games. You buy stuff and place stuff and the enemies obligingly shuffle on through your maze, but the challenge has been eaten away by the sheer overwhelming force on your side and so you're left just watching the numbers change - one side's health being whittled down, another side's loot slowly pooling. You get a hint of the hidden life of maths, sure - the way that one enemy, placed in the middle of a line of troops, will make it much further on their health than those in front or behind do - but it's an empty, sugary sort of game when the designer's attention starts to slide. - PixelJunk Monsters 2 is out this month, try the free demo now - 1 May 2018
PixelJunk Monsters 2 is a cute tower defense game about turning trees into weapons of war for the sake of protecting some chibi tiki dudes, and it's coming to PC on May 25. Developer Q-Games released a free Steam demo for it earlier today, so you can sample its first level now. You're gonna need a controller, though, and ideally an Xbox controller (it wouldn't register my PS4 controller connected via Bluetooth).  You play as Tikiman, a slightly taller tiki dude and the spirit of the forest that a whole bunch of monsters are invading. PixelJunk Monsters 2 adds to the original with new towers and multiplayer modes, but it's still the same sort of tower defense game: turn trees into towers to fend off waves of enemies and stop them from reaching the base where the chibis live. The Lorax speaks for the trees, but Tikiman weaponizes the trees. In PixelJunk Monsters 2 , you play as the spirit of the forest who has to repel waves of attacking monsters who have come to take your home and kidnap all of your friends — which I think we can all agree is not cool, man. To fend off the impending flood of creatures, Tikiman converts trees into towers for some kind of tower… defense. I think you see where this is going.
