Hey kids, what’ll it be? Your blood starting to clean itself? Let's fix that. Actually, we fixed some bugs. Thanks for your patience while we sorted them out. Here’s what’s mixed into this latest patch cocktail: Satan was getting stuck while walking along curved walls, but we’ve set him straight. Skoll’s bouncer went on unauthorized breaks after autosaving. We fired him. Autosaving blocked conversations with Lynda, so we got her a margarita. Jumping into Milo’s conscience was broken, but we’ve got that little dweeb right as rain again. While we were at it, we added a few more subtitle languages, including LATAM Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, Polish, Portuguese, and Traditional Chinese. Bem-vindos ao Inferno, eu acho! Night School Studio, the developer behind acclaimed narrative adventure Oxenfree and its highly anticipated sequel, has been acquired by Netflix. Night School has gained a reputation for creating engaging, sharply written adventures with a strong focus on narrative across the four games it's launched since its founding in 2014. After 2016's critically lauded Oxenfree, the developer released a well-received Mr. Robot tie-in, 1.51exfiltrati0n, followed by pub-crawl-through-hell adventure Afterparty and the Apple-exclusive space escapade Next Stop Nowhere. Despite enjoying it during my initial review, I never connected to Afterparty in the same way as its predecessor Oxenfree, one of my favourite games. Both are narrative-focused - you walk two characters from A to B and pick dialogue options, some of these options will change the course the story takes. Your protagonists are young people with a very natural way of speaking - they mumble and interrupt each other should you so choose, sigh loud and use "like", like... you know. I think I never liked Afterparty as much as Oxenfree because it's a less hopeful continuation of the same problems - Oxenfree ends at a point where Alex can choose to go to college in a different state and start over, whereas Milo and Lola spend college just as miserable as before. What if Hell were really just a place like any other? The idea behind Afterparty seems ludicrous at first, but the more you think about it, the more plausible it seems. Here, humans and demons meet up in bars during their off-hours, unwinding with a nice glass of colourful acid before returning to a long day of torture. It's another world with a touch of the familiar - like putting Starbucks on the moon. Fittingly, the first thing best friends Milo and Lola see of Hell is a sports bar populated by demons. The pair soon realise they're dead, with no memory as to how they died or why they ended up in the fiery pit in the first place. Being late for their torture assignments provides the two with a chance to escape the Underworld unharmed - apparently all anyone ever does in Hell after hours is party, and Satan more so than any of them. Hell is being kicked out of a bar because you have to fill out paperwork. To clarify, Afterparty is a branching narrative drinking game set in Hell. The next game from Night School Studio, the developer of creepy adventure game Oxenfree , looks just as spooky as that game, but possibly funnier. The narrative-heavy adventure is about two best friends waking up in Nowhere, the outer ring of Hell, and drinking their way out.  Best friends Milo and Lola will try different drinks with buffs that lead to different dialogue options. Their choices will affect those around them as well, and the islands of Hell might be forever changed by their antics. Afterparty will feature an "intelligent conversation system that changes the story and your relationships based on every decision," its Epic Store page says. Oxenfree developer Night School Studio has announced that its intriguing pub-crawl-in-hell narrative adventure, Afterparty, will be making its way - presumably on all fours and in a trailing puddle of sick - to Xbox One, PS4, and PC on 29th October. Afterparty, which was unveiled at the tail-end of 2017, casts players in the dual role of Milo and Lola, two recently deceased best friends who find themselves facing an eternity in Hell. Unless, that is, they can find a way to exploit a loophole permitting anyone capable of drinking Satan under the table passage back to the land of the living. If you asked me to tell you one game I think you should play from the last couple of years, I’d barely hesitate before suggesting Oxenfree . It is an exceptionally good game , focused on a mysterious tale told through an exquisitely good dialogue system . Night School Studio’s follow-up Afterparty is attempting to take it all one step further. A pub crawl in hell, where booze is your special power. In Afterparty, you can vomit up your conscience, and watch it run away. It’s a neat way of ensuring all your dialogue choices are awful . Hot on the heels of Sony's announcement of a Nintendo Direct-style show set to debut on Monday, Microsoft has announced a take on the "Nindie Directs" - and it debuts on Tuesday. ID@Xbox Game Pass is a stream designed to highlight indie games coming to Xbox Game Pass. The first is set for 4pm UK time on Tuesday, 26th March and you can watch it on the Xbox YouTube channel.
