- Devlog - Level depth - 1 March 2021
-- Greetings, crewmembers, Here is a new devlog, about the level depths. Levels now have two depths : the submarine and (most of) creatures, and the ocean floor. Now, the gunner can launch bombs on the ocean floor, to excavate orichalcum minerals, enemies, etc. He can also send flares with a better graphical effect than previously. Here is the result with a few bombs sent by the gunner: (click to enlarge) As usual, you can read our roadmap at any moment. End of transmission --
- Devlog - Sonar mechanics - 21 February 2021
Devlog - Sonar mechanics have changed. There is now a "normal" view ; an "hydrophone" view which displays noise sources ; a "short range radar" which identifies enemies as dots ; and a "long range radar" which displays the map. (click to view full-size) Next step is to improve gunner mechanics, with notably a torpedo customization by the engineer depending on the needs: specific damages, light turned on or off, variable radius... We'll be back about it in the next update! As usual, you can read our roadmap anytime.

- Steampunk lamp renovation - 5 November 2019
This week-end I found an old rusty lantern in my parents house, ALG "Luciole" type (don't know how old it is). It seemed a great steampunk decoration for the stand, so I wanted to renovate it. Here is the step-by-step transformation 🐙 So here is the lamp. Quite old, rusty, not usable as it. Some parts are missing. First, unmount all pieces, to clean pieces one by one. Here is some alcohol, an (old...) toothbrush, some Q-tips, and sand paper. Now let's rub! Should I paint the lamp? I tried a brown mate color, but I am not satisfied. I used this varnish with a copper color, it gives a great feeling I find. Let's use a big vintage bulb. Difficulty: how to hold the bulb? And the socket? It's too large for the lower tank, so I have to hold it from the top. It's not designed for it, so I have used some screws. I also found a iron metal ring, I have added some varnish and fixed it on the top,…
- [Devlog #4] Using particles to display a picture in Game Maker - 29 August 2019
https://cdn.steampulse.org/steam/asset?u=https%3A%2F%2Fsteamcdn-a.akamaihd.net%2Fsteamcommunity%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fclans%2F32130619%2F71dc1599f321b7afdc8fe6734d0fd4e3e2fe72d3.png-- Greetings, fellow devs, I'd like to share a cool effect I found with Game Maker Studio, which can be adapted for many other projects. https://cdn.steampulse.org/steam/asset?u=https%3A%2F%2Fsteamcdn-a.akamaihd.net%2Fsteamcommunity%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fclans%2F32130619%2Fdc1e3edbdfd5731baea3052047c1401cce8188f6.gif To give a little bit of context, in the game, the sonar player has to scan objects, and I wanted to make an image appear progressively on the screen. I found it worked well by using particles! The principle is to pick places randomly in a box around the shape we'd like to have, and to create particles only if the place is inside the shape. 1) First, you need to create the particles system you wish. I personally like the spheres, but there are many other possibilities. global.particlesUI = part_system_create(); analy…
