- I just surprise launched Exo Rally Championship in the PC Gaming Show! - 7 June 2026
Well, somehow more than four years of development has passed, and Exo Rally Championship is out now! I started the game back in early 2022, not long after Exo One. I still wanted to keep exploring alien planets, movement, momentum, physics and traversal, but from a totally different angle. In Exo One you were mostly gliding and rolling over these worlds. With Exo Rally, I wanted to know what those alien surfaces would actually feel like if you had tires digging into them, suspension bottoming out, rocks trying to tear the rover apart, strange weather rolling in, and the planet itself generally doing its best to kill you. If you're curious about it, head on over to the Exo Rally Championship page here - we'll be setting an Exo bundle live so all Exo One owners will get an extra discount on top! Cheers, -Jay
- Exo One now fully verified on Steam Deck! - 14 December 2024
While Exo One has run pretty smoothly on the Steam Deck for a while, it's been a bit of a stop start affair behind the scenes getting it fully verified and bug-free. While Steam verified us back in May, that version of the game broke some foliage rendering, and we lost some subtitles and voice from one of the planets as well. Given we've had our heads down getting the Exo Rally demo out, we had this on the back burner till now. We're happy to share that we've made significant progress addressing these bugs, and the latest update should bring a more polished experience to Steam Deck players. We're continuing to monitor performance and make adjustments as needed, and your feedback will play a big role in helping us fine-tune the game further if necessary. Please let us know if you encounter any issues, and thank you for your patience and support. We hope you'll enjoy exploring the skies o…

- We just revealed our new game, Exo Rally Championship, at PC Gaming Show 2023! - 11 June 2023
Hi folks, I’m absolutely pumped to finally reveal my new game, Exo Rally Championship, to the world. Just debuted it as part of PC Gaming Show 2023, but in case you didn’t catch it there, here’s the reveal trailer: I’ve been working away on this for a good while now with Rhys Lindsay and Mark Billington on board to make up the full Exbleative team. Rhys was responsible for Exo One’s stunning soundtrack, and now brings his programming skills as well as his musical talents to the table for Exo Rally. Mark contributes with his math and physics skills to help with vehicle simulation. Exo Rally Championship is the galaxy’s most dangerous off-road racing event. The final frontier of racing - remote, unexplored, extreme exoplanetary rally. You’ll take the wheel of advanced RCS thruster-enhanced rovers and attempt to master a brutally realistic racing simulation. You’ll have to conquer unforgiv…
- Level Select update! Midweek madness! - 7 February 2022
Hi folks, It’s been a little while since my last update - I took some much-needed time to have a little break over the holidays, and to generally sort out Life Stuff™ following the madness of launch. Alongside all that, I’ve also been working away on some new features for Exo One, and I’m very happy to finally say that, after much testing and tweaking, those new features are now live in-game. The centrepiece of the update is the new Level Select feature, which has been the most-requested feature ever since the game launched, so it feels great to finally have that delivered. The Level Select will appear once you’ve completed the game for the first time, so it’s perfect for those of you who are keen to hop back in from time to time, just playing through your favourite planets - skipping across the oceans of Nautica, or diving through the clouds of Darwin III, perhaps? I’d be super curious…

- Exo One: Patch Update #1 - 21 November 2021
Hey folks, 4 days out from launch, and it's all been a bit of a whirlwind, I gotta say! Feeling pretty overwhelmed by everything right now, and am not getting much sleep, but overall I'm super happy with how the launch is going! Just wanted to keep you updated on patches/fixes going on my side since launch. Version… 1st couple Steam patches(?): - fixed a Comet crash bug that occurred when Continuing from main menu - fixed Comet gravity bug - added geysers to Comet surface since a somewhat large number of people were getting stuck - fixed speed running time bug that caused all 3 achievements to unlock upon completing the game in any time Additionally to this, there's now a test branch. It contains a somewhat untested version of the game, with patches about to go into the public/default version of the game. It's potentially unstable and try at your own risk. Your save games WILL be affect…

- EXO ONE is out now! - 18 November 2021
Well here we are, that probably fleeting moment where we're happily finished but there's still yet to be any bug reports or negative reviews posted haha. For now, I can happily say Exo One is OUT NOW! I truly hope you'll enjoy playing Exo One! I know it's not perfect but one of my biggest goals has always been to create a unique game unlike anything else you've played, and I think I've succeeded there to some extent at the very least! I was lucky enough through developing Exo One to take inspiration from some of my favourite games, films, tv-shows and create my own unique thing. I love sci-fi and space - I grew up watching Star Trek with my brother, then battling him for the PC so we could play whatever the latest game was we were hopelessly addicted to. So to create a planet hopping sci-fi space adventure with my own story, art, sounds and game mechanics feels pretttty great. I want to…
- Exo One launching November 18! - 11 November 2021
Oh hai, Our 5 year journey (whoops!) to create Exo One is almost over! Exo One finally has a release date - it'll be out on November 18th, exactly one week from today! Here’s the release date announcement trailer! After so many delays and thinking we've been finished for at least a full year, it's hard to imagine Exo One will soon be complete and released, and then I need to get used to the strange new reality of not working on this game! We’ve had our hopes set on November 18th for a while, but I didn’t want to announce it earlier in case some last minute setback threw everything into confusion. I brought on some extra help at the beginning of September to help me get through all of the remaining issues that have been holding things up for so long now, and having a fresh set of eyes on the problems helped a lot. Since the beginning we've talked about Exo One being a solo developed titl…
- The intriguing-looking Exo One finally arrives next week - 11 November 2021
Exo One - which we've had our eye on now for almost five years - will finally launch next week for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on 18th November. A vast and beautiful sci-fi exploration game, Exo One is the work of developer Jay Weston. You control a mysterious gleaming spacecraft that can be rolled around planets like a sci-fi Wii Sports Golf ball, or soar through the air like a flying saucer. We first spotted Exo One back at Rezzed in 2017 , where we named it one of our favourites from the show. Read more
- The joy of treating demos like a finished game - 6 March 2021
There are many worlds in Jay Weston's Exo One, but I'm not sure I want to leave the one you explore in the game's Steam demo . I love hurtling towards its whirling horizon so much I would hate to actually cross it. If you've yet to have the pleasure, Exo One is a scifi-me-do of monolithic abstraction and giddy kinesis, like a pinball table built by the aliens from 2001: A Space Odyssey. It puts you in charge of a gleaming craft that can tumble over planets as a silver orb or squash itself into a flying disc, generating energy for movement from surface friction. The demo gives you 10 minutes to revel in all this, and much as I'm tantalised by the planets that await, I do wonder whether its timed fade-to-black is a more appropriate ending than any the final game might provide. Exo One, you see, is a story of first contact. One of its planets is named for the astronomer Carl Sagan, who spe…

- Explore the first planet of Exo One during the Steam Festival - 7 October 2020
The Exo One demo is now available! This is a SHORT demo - only about 7-10 minutes of gameplay, depending on how quickly you pick things up - and is just intended to give people a first little taste of Exo One. I’m pretty much developing Exo One solo, so I had to keep things short so I could keep my focus on the main game! :D Exo One is a single-player, interplanetary adventure game where you pilot an alien craft capable of manipulating gravity, and this demo gives you the opportunity to get to grips with the game’s main mechanics, and take a first-hand look at the game’s very first alien planet. You can play the demo with keyboard and mouse or most compatible controllers. Of course, in the main game, you’ll get to discover a whole host of amazing, high-sci-fi planets, float through boiling cloud formations, slide and roll down sheer mountain faces, and drift toward alien horizons!

- Exo One: Prologue - now available - 21 August 2020
Hi everyone! An exciting bit of news today: I’ve just released Exo One: Prologue - a free demo of the game for everyone to try! The Steam Summer Festival went so well, and it was awesome seeing so many new people trying the game, so I thought I’d make an updated version of that demo available so people can try out the game any time! The Prologue is mostly about trying to help new folks discover games they might not have seen before (but also for those of you who couldn’t get enough of the Summer Fest demo and might just wanna run through it again). The Prologue is super short - only around 10 minutes or so of gameplay - just to give people a little taste of what Exo One is all about. Download it here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1375530/Exo_One_Prologue/ If you try the Prologue and enjoy it, please chuck us a Wishlist on the main game page - this really does make so much differen…
