- Followup Patch to 1.3 - 4 January 2024
Hey all, we're here with a followup patch to 1.3 to fix a few issues. Another tweak has been made to the credits. The animated Serenity Forge logo has been replaced with a static one, as it was causing issues for SteamDeck users. An issue where the wrong replay was submitted to the leaderboard has been fixed. This unfortunately won't be retroactive if you submitted replays pre-patch. The end display at the end of replays has been restored. Thanks and take care!
- Patch 1.3 Release! - 21 December 2023
Hey all, it's been a while! We've taken the time to polish up a large collection of fixes throughout the game and build some long-awaited features. Those interested in creativity and community may find and enjoy a new door hidden in the kingdoms. You can now see ghosts of players with a similar best time after first completion or watching a replay, on almost all levels. This can be turned off in gameplay options. A hub select menu is now available after completing the game. This can be accessed with the leaderboard button while standing around in a hub. Additional patch notes: Background quality has been added in video options. Desktop icon has been updated. Audio obeys settings when launching the game. A small tweak has been made to the credits. - Unknown Pleasures: By Land, Air, and Sea - 14 September 2018
You’re in for an “I can’t think of an intro” intro, viewers, because the last fortnight has kept me busy with the second most important thing I’ve ever done in my life. I don’t know about you, but while the world seems to be on a downward slide, things have been looking pretty great for me lately. When the bombs fall I shall surely rule the Wasteland, and have my minions rebuild, that we may finally get through our game backlogs. The most important thing, of course, was to play another pile of new Steam releases, and tell you which ones are the best. It is time for more Unknown Pleasures Transforming lives this week: birdless flights, branching fan narratives, and three wrongs making a right. (more…)
- Patch 1 is here! - 7 September 2018
Hey all, we've just released the first major patch to The King's Bird. The two big features you're looking for are fully rebindable keys and multiple saves (up to 5), and we also have a slew of quality of life changes and bugfixes. Here's the full changelist. Controls are now fully rebindable, found in Options -> Controls. Multiple saves are now supported, found in Options -> Saves, this also replaces the "Restart Game" option. A "Quick Reset" option is now available as an optional keybinding. This does the same thing as restarting from latest checkpoint. Options configurations now persist between sessions. You are now allowed to return to hubs during story levels. Tutorial progress is now saved if you don't reach the Forest Kingdom. A door has been added to Eagle's Shrine after reaching the Battle for the Last Kingdom that takes you directly to it. The menu has overall been made slight…

- Five new Steam games you probably missed (August 26, 2018) - 26 August 2018
On an average day, about a dozen new games are released on Steam. And while we think that's a good thing, it can be understandably hard to keep up with. Potentially exciting gems are sure to be lost in the deluge of new things to play unless you sort through every single game that is released on Steam. So that’s exactly what we’ve done.  Lucah: Born of a Dream Steam page Release: August 21 Developer: melessthanthree Price: $20 An action-RPG with the focus on stamina, dodging, and respawning to try again familiar from Dark Souls, but a combat system based on shifting stances a little like Absolver, and visuals that are unique. It's sketchy, like colored chalk scratched out from under charcoal, and nothing seems to stand still for very long. Which is apt, because that's exactly how you have to play to survive the punishing combat. Fortunately there are di…

- The King's Bird is a lovely platformer that combines jumping and gliding in a secret world - 13 August 2018
I'm a sucker for pretty platformers. Give me a piano-led soundtrack and a heavy-handed shot of "behold my art ," and I'm there—even though I'm not actually very good at platformers in the first place. Thus my interest in The King's Bird , "an artistic, momentum-based game that seamlessly combines precision-platforming with physics-based gliding."  The game is set in five unique, beautifully-rendered worlds inspired by Mayan, Southeast Asian, and Roman cultures. What it's actually about isn't clear: "Escape into a world kept secret by a tyrant, and discover the truth about your freedom" is all the Steam page has to say about it, and the Serenity Forge website isn't any more informative. But that's okay. Story is nice but spectacle is the real attraction here, and The King's Bird looks to have plenty of that. Which isn't to dow…
