• Dreamsettler, the follow-up to early internet inspired browser game Hypnospace Outlaw, has been cancelled - 21 June 2025

  A little over three years since it was announced, Dreamsettler , the spiritual sequel to Hypnospace Outlaw , has been cancelled. Yesterday, lead developer Jay Tholen shared a video simply titled "Dreamsettler is canceled", where he explained some of his reasoning behind the decision. "This is not a joke, and I'm sorry everyone," Tholen wrote in the description of the video. Read more

• Steam Cloud Saves are now ENABLED for Hypnospace Outlaw! - 4 October 2023

  Hey enforcers! LONG TIME NO SEE! We’ve got a small update for you regarding Steam Cloud Saves, which we’ve finally enabled for Hypnospace Outlaw! There’s a couple of important details we wanted to share with you, so you’re across all of it: Once your saves are synced via Steam Cloud, the save files uploaded to the cloud will be considered your canonical save files, and they will sync automatically (as long as you have an internet connection), overwriting any previous, local saves. If you've purchased and installed Hypnospace via Itch, GOG, or otherwise in addition to Steam, this will overwrite those save files as well!! Any mods installed on one device must be installed on your other device(s) BEFORE you load the save file!! • Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer review: a boisterous Hypnospace spin-off that's an obnoxious gem - 1 June 2023

  I put olives in my bolognese. Olives, objectively, do not belong in a bolognese. But without fail, I’ll dunk half a jar of those salty little bad boys into my bubbling wok without hesitation. Peppers? Why not. Carrot? Absolutely. Spinach? Don’t mind if I do. My bolognese is about as authentically Italian as Super Mario, but it doesn’t matter. I’m not trying to make Massimo Bottura cry by reminding him of his nonna’s cooking. It’s a dreary Tuesday night and I’m craving my olive-laden concoction. I’m making this bolognese just for me. Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer reminded me a lot of my bolognese. It’s a game created for particular tastes, a unique proposition that sort of defies conventional thinking. • Update: PUBG Mobile's latest skin being renamed to remove reference to Hypnospace Outlaw - 22 July 2021

  Update: The developers of PUBG Mobile reached out to Hypnospace Outlaw creator Jay Tholen to explain the situation via Twitter . Apparently the skin's original name in Mandarin translates to "Golden Diva" and was designed without Tholen's work in mind. However, "An individual on our localization team saw the visuals for the skin and was reminded of your game. Rather than adopt the literal translation, 'Golden Diva,' the team member decided to change the name to Hypnospace Diva, not considering the consequences or implications of doing so. Those responsible for approving the localization were not familiar with Hypnospace Outlaw, and so were unaware of the name's connection to your game.".. Read more.
