Hey Chieftains, Today is the beginning of the Kitfox Festival and we just announced the next new procedural adventure game by A Sharp, Thousand Hells: The Underworld Heists. Thousand Hells takes place in a stand-alone fantasy world where four heroes are hired to take on the trials of the underworld. There’s lots here that you’ll like from the Six Ages series: Lots of life or death choices, mythological logic, tactical party management and beautiful hand-painted scenes. You can watch the announcement trailer here and wishlist the game on Steam now: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3794210/Thousand_Hells/ To celebrate, Six Ages 1 and 2 (as well as the rest of the Kitfox catalogue) are on sale or you can get both in bundle form for an extra discount if you own one but not the other! Happy Festivaling! -Alexandra
- The Next Game - 26 May 2025
Working on the Six Ages games was amazing. It gave me a chance to revisit King of Dragon Pass’s genre of narrative strategy games. And another chance to explore Greg Stafford’s richly detailed world of Glorantha. To say nothing about working with a talented creative team. It’s also touching how many of you have enjoyed the games and would like another. We really appreciate it. So it wasn’t easy to step away, but I’m excited to try something different for my next project. Instead of a narrative strategy game set in Glorantha, it’s a tactical narrative game in a new setting. But a lot of the core elements will be the same, the ingredients that combine to make interesting stories. You’ll still direct a set of characters with their own personalities and goals. Mythology is still at the heart of the game, which will draw on some of our oldest epics. This will help give the stories layers of…

- Cult classic RPG King of Dragon Pass' spiritual successor Six Ages out next month on PC - 25 September 2019
Six Ages: Ride Like The Wind, developer A Sharp's spiritual successor to mighty cult classic strategy RPG King of Dragon Pass, will be coming to PC on 17th October. The original King of Dragon Pass is one of gaming's weirder success stories, having widely been considered a flop when it originally released for PC in 1999. However, the game found a second lease of life more than a decade later; when it launched for iOS in 2011, it utterly trounced the original release's 8,000 sales. So successful was the iOS version, in fact, that King of Dragon Pass was subsequently ported back to PC (and various other mobile devices), and a follow-up, Six Ages: Ride Like The Wind, was announced last year . Six Ages' "multi-generational tale of survival" unfolds in a "land of old gods and magic", and offers the same mesmerising blend of text-based multiple-choice adventuring, role-playing, and strategy (…

Hey chieftains! Progress rides like the wind~ We’ve started beta-testing the game, and our players (picked from the Discord) have found some great bugs. With their help, things are starting to feel pretty solid in terms of being able to play the game. It’s still going to take more time to polish everything and try to optimize for low-end machines, but we’re getting there. PAX West & Demo If you’d like to meet David, creator of King of Dragon Pass and Six Ages, *in real life*, you’ll be able to catch him at PAX West! - Dev Blog: Achievement Support and Porting Notes - 25 July 2019
Hi everyone, Many games can be brought to new platforms with some careful attention to the user interface on the new device. You may need new art assets, and certainly a bit of new coding. But most of the game code is identical. Back when I started working on Six Ages, this was my plan. Basic development was on iOS, in part because the tools were more reliable. I had experimented with two different solutions to bring that code to other platforms, and was optimistic that I’d be able to just rebuild the game. Then I’d be able to polish it, add support for platform-specific achievements, and start a new testing cycle. Things didn’t work out as I’d planned. Both of the porting libraries I had expected to use were discontinued (one formally, one not formally abandoned but clearly not viable). So instead of just recompiling, we were faced with rewriting. That’s a way bigger hurdle. And that’s…
