  • Coming Early 2021 - 2 December 2020

Hi there: Ben here, swinging by with an update on the development of Slumber Clause: Episode I. We care about this game deeply, but it's something we're unfortunately hammering away at between other projects that keep the lights on. We want to make Slumber Clause super weird and unique in the video game narrative space. But in order to do it right, it is taking time. More time than we initially anticipated. It's looking like Episode I will be ready in early 2021. Working towards a release in the new year will give us more time to write, revise, and make sure the episode is polished. The plan remains for us to do an episodic release of Slumber Clause under the banner of Early Access. We've nailed down a pricing structure and updated the store page accordingly, complete with a nifty animated graphic. If you are a particularly budget conscious game player who is interested in the project,…

  • Slumber Clause Initial Release Delayed - 5 October 2020

Today I made the difficult decision to postpone the initial release of Slumber Clause. Our tiny development team of three was pushing to release Episode I into Early Access in time for Halloween 2020, a pretty ideal time to introduce a new weird, narrative horror game into the world. Sadly, the Summer of Coronavirus has been a parade of speed bumps and gear wrenches as I juggle AAA writing commitments with indie passion projects like Slumber Clause. Slumber Clause is a game I've wanted to make for years—and I want to make sure it is as good as it can be. Releasing the game episodically through an early access model is meant to help on this front, as episodic + early access supports the game's ongoing development financially, while also providing us with essential player feedback as we squash bugs, polish the writing, and add new episodes. Our initial release still needs to be pretty rad…

  • Last Chance to Play Demo - 23 June 2020

Thanks everyone for trying out the prologue for Slumber Clause. The timed demo was created as part of the Steam Games Festival: Summer Edition. The idea was for the festival demos to go away when the event ended. We figured it would be good for the prologue to stick around for a while longer, so our demo is instead set to expire on June 26. If you haven't played the demo yet, be sure to play this week! And if you have any comments or feedback on our prologue, please post your thoughts in the Slumber Clause Steam forums. Halloween is scary close, and a bigger, better prologue will be included with Episode I of the main game. We'll have more news on Slumber Clause in the weeks and months ahead! 👁❤️👻, Ben

  • Introducing: Slumber Clause - 17 June 2020

Hi there. My name is Ben Gelinas. I'm a video game writer and designer who works in both AAA and indie spheres. Under my Copychaser Games label, I've released one indie game to date: the whole horror conversation sim Speed Dating for Ghosts. On the AAA side, my credits include Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mass Effect 3, Mass Effect Andromeda, and, most recently, Remedy Games' new weird action adventure Control. Working on Control got me into the New Weird genre of fiction in a big way. I wanted to write my own narrative take on the burgeoning genre. Combine that with a long-held love of old school text adventures and you get... Slumber Clause is way more than a throwback to classic text adventures, with modern choice and narrative mechanics piled on top to create an immersive, detailed experience that should appeal to fans of adventure games and BioWare-style choices and characters alike. T…
