  • BIG news from 34BigThings! - 23 June 2026

Hello Pilots,This is the third time 34BigThings is being born. The first time is a story we’ve talked about extensively in the past, possibly because it’s been 13 years. The second time was when 34BigThings was acquired by the Embracer Group in November 2020. We didn't feel the need to communicate much on the topic at the time; after all, we thought, "This is a great chance to just focus on making games."If you’ve followed the gamedev ecosystem over the last six years, the next part won't surprise you. We were put under the guidance of Saber Interactive and were asked to scale up, to absorb more and bigger productions. Then, the business of making games became risky and costly. Through it all, we managed to stay afloat without slashing our workforce. Saber left. Embracer split. Natural spells of radio silence, shifting priorities, and changing contact points followed. Through this, we ma…

  • Redout: Space Assault adds RTX and DLSS support! - 18 May 2021

Redout: Space Assault enhances your space shooting with NVIDIA DLSS and ray traced shadows and reflections for a faster and more immersive experience. Activating NVIDIA DLSS boosts performances, enabling all GeForce RTX Series graphics cards to play at a super smooth framerate, perfect for the game’s high-speed action. Ray traced shadows and reflections bring all the architectural elements to life. Softer and more detailed shadows on the hulls of fighter and boss ships, including the player's ship, make them more realistic and the added reflections from the surrounding environment really make them stand out. Nvidia DLSS support for sizzling fast 4K or raytraced 1080p battles. Ray traced illumination, shadows and reflections for gleaming space environments with natural lights and colors. Better tuning of graphic quality settings. Minor QoL fixes.

  • Weekend Hotfix #1 - 23 January 2021

Thanks to the many players that tried Redout: Space Assault at launch! Some unexpected issues have arisen and we felt the need to upload a flash weekend patch to fix the most blatant one: the AUTOFIRE option is now disabled by default. This is intended as an extra accessibility option, not as the default way to play the game. Also, we are currently investigating HDR and other minor and major issues that you flagged. No QA team, no matter how awesome and dedicated, can hold a candle to you, the hive mind, when it comes to spotting problems. We'd like to take this chance to remind that other accessibility options, such as inverted controls and sensitivity, are available from the game menu. On a final note: once again, we realize there are tons of space sims and roguelikes out there. Redout: Space Assault is a different type of game, at a different price point. We currently don't have a de…

  • Redout: Space Assault launches on January 22nd, 2021 - 22 December 2020

Redout: Space Assault puts you in control of a Super Orbital Recon Fighter during the colonization of Mars. A thrilling combination of fast-paced action with roguelike elements is at the core of this single-player gaming experience. Intense dogfights using a wide range of weaponry are set in an incredibly detailed universe with stunning visuals. The year is 2395. Humanity is facing the most perilous, daunting, and desperate challenge in its existence: fleeing Earth. Hundreds of satellites, drones, and terraforming robots have been sent to the outskirts of the Solar System. Brave scientists and colonists have taken off towards inhospitable new worlds, often on one-way journeys, to build a new home for humanity. Now, tales of lush green landscapes, rivers, and abundant resources run through the void on radio messages, from the Moon to Mars. You are Leon Barret, a starfighter pilot caught…

  • Redout: Space Assault is a modern spin on StarFox, coming to PC in January - 15 December 2020

Sometimes, you just need to strap yourself into a cockpit and hurtle through space, blasting as many glowing things as possible. That's exactly what's on the menu for Redout: Space Assault , a modern take on the StarFox-style arcade space shooter that's coming to PC and consoles in January. Redout: Space Assault is actually a prequel - the original Redout began as a "warm-up exercise" for three Italian developers, who wound up creating a PC-based WipeOut-style game in Unreal 4. Now the studio, 34BigThings, has made a space game that brings StarFox's arcade shooting and storytelling to modern systems. 34BigThings says Redout: Space Assault features a career mode that will teach players the skills they need to survive, as well as introduce them to a fully customisable ship that can be outfitted with a wide array of weapons that range from conventional Gatling guns to high-tech plasma cann…

  • Redout dogfighter spin-off Space Assault has been delayed indefinitely - 22 May 2019

34BigThings, the studio behind 2016's excellent anti-grav racer Redout, has announced that its upcoming dogfighter spin-off Space Assault has been delayed out of its previously anticipated Q1 2019 release window. Redout: Space Assault was first revealed during E3 2018, and a promising gameplay trailer emerged toward the end of last year. The intergalactic shooter was clearly a very different beast to its predecessor, but 34BigThings promised that the two shared the same "adrenaline rush, high skill ceiling, frantic pace and popping aesthetics". At the time, the developer said it was aiming to release Space Assault during Q1 2019, a window that it obviously missed. However, 34BigThings has now broken its silence in a new blog post , officially delaying the game, and even going as far as to say that it's unsure "when will come out, and whether it will come out this year or not." • Redout dev reveals first footage of its dogfighter spin-off Space Assault - 9 November 2018

34BigThings, the developer behind 2016's excellent anti-grav racer Redout, is hard a work on a new intergalactic shooter spin-off set in the Redout universe. It's called Redout: Space Assault and there's a first proper look at its dogfighting action in a new gameplay video. Redout: Space Assault was apparently revealed back in June, in among the usual the avalanche of E3 announcements, and I'm sorry to say that the news completely passed me by. My interest is certainly piqued now, however: I had a lot of fun with Redout's breathless, gorgeously presented racing action (and its stupendous soundtrack), especially in VR. At first glance, Space Assault's deep-space dogfighting would seem to suggest that this is Redout in name only. However, 34BigThings insists that its spin-off maintains "the adrenaline rush, high skill ceiling, frantic pace and popping aesthetics" of its predecessor. Read…
