- Update v0.25.7 "Radiant Veil" - 19 June 2026
Welcome, fellow rocket scientists and pilots, to the update v0.25.7 “Radian Veil”!At the beginning of April, I realized that the best way to continue developing the game was to fork the HDRP rendering pipeline and start making all the necessary changes directly to it. Since then, I’ve implemented several new features that I could only dream of before. This will lead to huge graphics improvements.Volumetric CloudsYou’ve been asking for this for a long time. This was an unbelievably hard task, especially considering that Unity does not, and will not, support space simulators properly. To implement it, along with several other changes, I forked HDRP and rewrote large parts of it. And now, you can enjoy clouds from the ground. After playing with the clouds for some time, going back to previous versions of the game felt very empty and strange. In the air.Flying on a plane is 2x more satisfying…
- v0.25 “Radiant Veil” Update Release Date - 29 May 2026
At the beginning of April, I realized that the best way to continue developing the game was to fork the HDRP rendering pipeline and start making all the necessary changes directly to it. Since then, I’ve implemented several new features that I could only dream of before. Because of this, the update will bring huge graphics improvements. There is also a downside: the risk that I might break something at the core rendering level and miss it, since I have far fewer QA resources than Unity. Because of that, part of this update will be sent to closed community testing this weekend. It will also require an extended stabilization period due to the major changes to the game’s codebase, which should take several weeks. So, if everything goes well, v0.25 “Radiant Veil” is set to release on June 19.To give you a small glimpse of what is coming next, I’ll leave two screenshots here. Enjoy!Looks like…

- Update v0.24.7 "Breaking Silence" is out now! - 3 October 2025
Rocket Science v0.24.7 “Breaking Silence” update has finally arrived! Since it is a huge one, I decided to make a video that clearly demonstrates the most important changes again. As always, you can find full release notes below.I will spend the next couple of weeks not only fixing already reported and not yet discovered bugs by players, but working on new parts, including a parachute, I’ve promised in one of the previous updates (finally!).That’s all, thank you for your support and have a nice flight!v0.24.7 release notesFeatures:🔸 added space communications and antenna parts;🔸 Deep Space Network and default relays as an option on game start;🔸 implemented instruments system;🔸 added flight journal, that records all events that happened to the spacecraft during the flight;🔸 added milestones system, which replace simple contracts like reach orbit, land etc and group it by planet;🔸 a…
- Quick Update: v0.24 is Around The Corner - 1 August 2025
Hello, fellow rocket scientists! It’s been a while since my last post and I wanted to give you a quick update about current development status. It will be the biggest update since the release not only in the new game systems, but also in terms of the size of the changelog: it is already approaching 100 lines, and I'm not done yet! The changelog is here just for reference, nobody is supposed to be able to read itThe biggest time sink was the integration of communications into the game and new rocket parts production. The first one required significant changes all over other game systems. For example, when I’ve added default relays into the orbit, I’ve discovered that on high time warps communications just stop working. Why? Because spacecraft orientation was not stable on high time warps, and orientation matters a lot for high gain antennas. So I need to do something about that.Another ex…
- Dev Update: Instruments - 8 May 2025
Hello, I am still diligently working on v0.24.0 which finally starting to come together. Read the full post on my blog.
- Dev Update: Communications - 14 March 2025
Hello, It's time to reveal what I was working on since the last update release. Long story short: another important system is coming, that will affect how you assemble your rockets and how you fly them. You can read the full post on my blog. What it could be?
- Patch v0.23.16 - 13 February 2025
Here is a small patch with a bunch of fixed bugs that were found by our community. Since most of them were pretty critical, I've switched from v0.24 development to fix them all. v0.23.16 release notes Features:🔸 added craft validation and cleanup on load, wich will be able to fix and load broken spacecrafts with missing attachments, parts, etc.; 🔸 added "clear" command to console. Changes:🔸 changed all pivot position of command modules and probe cores to the bottom socket; 🔸 thermodynamics calculations deltaTime now clamped to 2 days / sec max, otherwise it becomes very unstable and parts start exploding; 🔸 further reduced thermal production coefficient on some engines; 🔸 slightly reduced collision radius for dynamic attachments so small parts like rcs mounting point now can fit rcs engines without problems. Fixes:🔸 NaN temperature on crafts where some parts were placed inside th…
- Patch v0.23.8 - 14 January 2025
Here is a small patch with a bunch of fixed bugs that were mostly found by the community. It also improves the game stability a bit and brings some QoL features. I am also moving to v0.24 development which should be the last "system-like" update. After that I will finally start to focus mostly on survival mode and adding content to the game. v0.23.8 release notes Features: 🔸 you can configure wheel steering angle and invert steering controls now; 🔸 you can configure decoupler force percent; Changes: 🔸 you need to hold ctrl to copy part now instead of shift, since shift is used for ignoring fixed attachments; 🔸 reduced heat transfer from combustion chambers for biggest engines in the game, adding approximately 30-40 seconds of burn time for them; Fixes: 🔸 you can't attach anything to the assembly if you attach existing part to already placed not connected part; 🔸 positions become s…
- Update v0.23 "Ascended Assembly" - 27 December 2024
Welcome, fellow rocket scientists and pilots, to Update v0.23 “Ascended Assembly”! This time I brought you: Dynamic attachments I've talked about this attachment system rework in depth in my blog post. Long story short: you can finally place rocket parts radially almost whenever you want. The game will create radial attachments automatically for you. This will unlock the full potential of vessel crafting. Not only that, but there are more advantages to the new system: Dynamic attachments work great especially for planes, they can finally be properly balanced. You will be able to attach most engines to the sides of fuel tanks. Some interesting rocket designs are incoming! Cargo parts will be much more useful, as you'll be able to attach other parts anywhere inside it. Payload fairings now attach to the side of any cylindrical part of the appropriate radius. It should be much easier to us…
- Dev Update: Assembly Rework, Stage 3 - 25 October 2024
Hello, It's time to reveal what I was working on last month. Long story short: big changes to the rocket assembly are coming! You can read the full post on my blog.
- Patch v0.22.5 - 16 September 2024
These two weeks were very productive. I’ve spent them stabilizing the game after the release of v0.22.0 update. I got a lot of good feedback and bug reports and fixed most of them. Now I'm satisfied with the quality of the update and can move to the development of v0.23 version. I have big plans for it and prepared a huge list of changes I want to make. As always I will uncover some of them in a future dev update. Now let’s move to highlights for this patch. First of all, I’ve added an ablative variant for each heat shield. You can now configure the thickness of the ablation layer and it will resist the radiative heating which appears when you enter the atmosphere at speeds higher than 9 km/sec. This allows you to make a return mission from the Moon or break against the planet’s atmosphere in the interplanetary flights. Be careful tho, this heat shield will not save you if the re-entry…
- Update v0.22.1 "Foundation" is out! - 2 September 2024
Rocket Science v0.22.1 “Foundation” update has finally arrived! I’ve decided to change my update highlights format a bit and made a video that clearly demonstrates the most important changes. As always, you can find full release notes below. I want to touch on some things that were not included in the video. Firstly, there are not many implications of thermodynamics at the moment other than engines, re-entry and solar radiation overheating. So you will be able to try it out and tell me if it is working as expected in all cases and all possible part combinations (it is not possible to test everything by myself). I hope to have all the thermodynamics related bugs fixed and any missing thermal control parts added for the next update. Since I am going to introduce operating temperature ranges for some parts, you will have to pay even more attention to spacecraft thermal control in the futur…
- Dev Update: Integrating Thermodynamics - 28 June 2024
When I started working on thermodynamics for “Rocket Science” I couldn’t even imagine how deep a rabbit hole. I am close to a finish line and now I understand why some recent space simulators choosed a very simplified model of thermal processes. Because everything appeared to be much more complicated compared to what I told in the previous dev update. To describe all of this I wrote an article that is so big, that doesn't even fit into a standard Steam news post. It also contains a bunch of formulas written using LaTeX, which also is not supported by Steam. So I'm suggesting to read the full version of article in my blog. For starters, here is some screenshots from that artickle: Interesting, what is happening here? And there? You can also find some pretty interesting gifs in that article. As for the release date of v0.22.0, I can't provide any yet, but I am pretty sure it will be ready…
- Dev Update: Solving Thermodynamics - 17 May 2024
Greetings, fellow rocket scientists! One of the big features which I get asked about all the time is the re-entry effect. I've been putting this feature off for the future for a long time because I didn't know how to even get started with it. You need not only to add the whole thermodynamics simulation into the game while trying to maintain the game's performance, but also somehow solve a re-entry effect for the crafts of any shape and form. Not many other games have done this before and there is very little info out there on how to properly do it. But now I think I have gathered enough expertise to accept this challenge. Because the whole new system not only should improve the depth of the game and bring a lot of new rocket parts, but it will solve one of the big problems it has. See, the game is capable of maintaining several physics simulations in the background. So if you launch a p…
- Patch v0.21.9 - 17 April 2024
I got a lot of bug reports thanks to our amazing Discord community and some of the videos that were published on youtube last week. I fixed all the critical bugs with reproducible scenarios. And a bunch of less important ones that didn’t require big changes to the game. This patch includes some features and a lot of changes too. I’ve added a third rocket assembly tutorial to the game that shows how to use some tools that weren't touched in the previous ones. And I changed the orbit parameters panel. In the collapsed state it shows the most important parameters for any flight: orbit apoapsis and periapsis and time to these nodes. If your spacecraft’s trajectory ends up on the planet’s surface it shows time to impact instead of time to periapsis. Using this panel you can now put a spacecraft on orbit without opening the map even once If you click the expand button, then you will get all t…
- Patch v0.21.4 - 8 April 2024
I usually make only fixes and do not add any new features in patches in between updates, however since many new players are joining and trying out the game I decided to process feedback faster and implement features that do not require big changes to the game as soon as possible. One of those features was the request to decouple some side boosters without needing additional decouplers to match the behavior “Proton” or “Souz” rockets have. And now you can easily do that. https://media0.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExZDBwMzNjMzl3dW1vbDV1c3l2ZDZ6MGRzeXl6ZmNwczA3cXp0a2xsbSZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/8ZARkx9r9e6olt1Q07/giphy.gif Just select new decouple mode in the part configuration https://media0.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExNTBkeWhuaTcxc2JiaXExeHVzdWoweG5mZjM4NjB3OTg2czQzdHp6YSZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/Sj5s3qjEJ1BBY2EMM1/giphy.gif And enjoy the new be…
- Update v0.21.0 "Essentials" is now LIVE! - 29 March 2024
Hi, there! Three months have passed in a blink of an eye and it is time to publish the next update. This is a medium-sized update but it has a lot of changes under the hood. Because most of the changes were localized and there were no engine version updates, I decided to release this update without the beta cycle. We will see how it goes, but without further ado let’s dive into it. Support for different fuel types As I mentioned in the previous update, all the engines in the game are based on real world counterparts. And the last two engines I’ve added have a much higher ISP, but should consume a hydrogen / oxygen fuel pair instead of UDMH / dinitrogen tetroxide all the other engines use. But while the game was designed around different fuel pairs, some game systems were still not fully reworked to support that. For this update I’ve added a hydrogen / oxygen fuel pair and support for ev…
- Patch v0.20.8 - 16 January 2024
Here is a small patch with a bunch of fixed bugs that was mostly found by the community. Also this patch brings a pretty big change in rotation steps of big hexagon-like sockets that can be found mostly on fuel tanks. Initially those sockets supported only 60 degrees turns to follow the hexagon sockets restrictions. After receiving some feedback and thinking about it for a while I decided to remove this restriction and allow rotation on those sockets with a 10 degrees step. Despite being not very “socket accurate” It should not break anything and will greatly increase customizability of all rockets. I hope you will enjoy this change. v0.20.8 release notes Part changes: 🔸 rotation step for hexagon, heptahedron, star and heptahedron range sockets increased from 6 to 36 steps; Changes: 🔸 updated to latest Unity patch version, increasing the game stability; 🔸 removed CRC check on asset b…
- Update v0.20.5 "In Between" is out of Beta! - 29 December 2023
This was a very hard beta cycle. Unity 2022.3 kept raining bugs, different problems and unexpected changes that constantly broke the game in different places. I couldn’t hope that those issues would be solved on the engine side in time, because even getting a reply from Unity staff is almost impossible nowadays, so I needed to find workarounds to them. Should I mention that most of the issues that I reported in August are still not fixed? Anyway, I think this update is ready to come out. I’ve described most of its features in the previous post, so let’s talk about the new parts that were not part of the beta and will be available in this release. New engines and fuel tanks I’ve added two new engines this time. The process of adding them is pretty hard, because every single engine in the game is based on the parameters of the real ones and I spend a lot of the time on research of existin…
