- We just released the first issue of a new graphic novel! - 15 February 2023
Introducing Lucid Breathing Today we have launched the first issue of our new graphic novel, Lucid Breathing for free on tapas. If you like Newfound Courage, you should check it out: https://tapas.io/series/Lucid-Breathing Here is a little more info: Lucid Breathing is a fantasy adventure graphic novel about a young man called Solvent. Solvent knew everything there was to know about his world - yet he’d decided it would soon be time for it to end. It had been too long since his mother had passed and the silence had started to set in. But when a young man named Jarrow appears, Solvent’s perception of his world was shattered. His once finite world suddenly became endless and it brimmed with beauty, adventure, and magic. Solvent no longer wished for the world to end. Instead, his one desire was to find his new place in it.
- MAC USERS: resolved an issue causing input delays in book 2 - 12 January 2023
Update In the first scene of Return to Otherwhere, Mac users experienced some extreme input lag. This should now be resolved. Thanks very much to those who raised this with me.
- Update to controller support - 3 August 2022
Summary Any custom Steam inputs may need to be updated The native Newfound Courage input system has been improved Hi all, just a small update today. I had previously applied a bandaid to fix the input system issues when using PlayStation or Switch Controls. This should now be resolved more permanently. If you have any issues, please let me know, but PS4, Switch and Xbox controllers should now all be well supported.
- New Rogue-lite - Silverpine Arena - now available free in Newfound Courage! - 15 July 2022
Summary A brand-new rogue-lite mode, Silverpine Arena, has been launched into Beta Battle endless waves of Sendings and earn Mechamancer rank and title Unlock power increases that can be used in later arena attempts Get randomised talents and abilities What was initially meant to be a simple arena battle mode has turned into a streamlined Rogue-lite in Newfound Courage. From now, there is a new game mode in Newfound Courage that enables Alex to endlessly battle waves of Sendings. Perform well, and you'll be able to earn unique Mechamancer ranks . The quantity and names of ranks will remain secret until they are known within the community through play. For now, there are no Steam achievements associated with the Arena, but that will likely change when the mode comes out of beta. I also would like to add a leaderboard. Depending on the appetite of you all, I will also add an Otherwhere Ar…
- Newfound Courage has been completely remade with new DLC, Return to Otherwhere - 9 July 2022
Summary Newfound Courage has been remade The story has been rewritten, plus a whole new chapter, Return to Otherwhere, has been added Brand new ‘Mechamancer’ combat mechanics and progression. Almost every art asset has been completely remade. Six new musical compositions added Today, we are launching the Newfound Courage remake. This is a total remake with new art, music, story content and mechanics. This version of the game will immerse you in Alex and Jake’s story like never before. When we set out to add a new DLC to Newfound Courage, we decided to take a look at the game as it currently stands. The feedback we’ve received is great; people love the music, story and art. But we knew people want more and we knew we could do even better, so we decided while working on the new DLC, we'd remake the whole game. We always felt visual art was a weak point in the game. It was too static and g…

From the swooping magpies of Silverpine to the red landscapes of Otherwhere, Newfound Courage is heavily inspired by our home, Australia. That’s why 100% of the revenue earned by the game in January will be donated to the ongoing bush fire recovery effort. If you'd like to donate to support the recovery yourself, here are some great organisations you should consider: WIRES: https://wires.org.au/donate/emergency-fund RFS: https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/ The Red Cross: https://fundraise.redcross.org.au/drr

- Free DLC planned for release by end of 19' - 11 August 2019
The team behind Newfound Courage is currently working on some DLC planned for release sometime later this year. This free DLC will take roughly an hour to complete and will be holiday-themed. The DLC's story will take place roughly six months after the events at the end of Newfound Courage. Players will get to come home to Silverpine and spend more time with their favourite characters while they solve a brand new mystery. Updates will be more frequent as we get closer to release. We're super excited to share the next chapter of Alex's story with you!
- Patch v1.0.3 - Additional polish and improvements - 19 June 2019
* Changed the Keyboard only and Controller experiences so Alex only detects things he's actually looking at. No more eyes in the back of his head. This won't affect keyboard and mouse players. * Resolved a number of spelling and grammar issues - big thank you to everyone in the community who told us where they found them. * Resolved a cut-scene where Jake teleported when he shouldn't have
- Patch v1.0.2 - Better support for screen resolutions below 1920x1080 - 2 April 2019
In this patch, we have made some changes so the game runs better on 16:9 and 16:10 ratios below the minimum supported resolution of 1920x1080. To be clear, we don't officially support lower resolutions, but we know a lot of people are choosing to play the game at lower resolutions regardless, so we wanted to make the experience better for those players. We still very strongly recommend playing on at least 1280x720. Smaller resolutions will have cropping issues that could be game breaking. If you do play at a smaller resolution than 1920x1080, the graphics won't be "Pixel Perfect" and in some scenes, the graphics could "jitter", but it's unlikely you'll encounter any game breaking issues. We may get to a point where we officially support it eventually.
- Patch v1.0.1 - Bug fixes and corrections - 25 March 2019
* Resolved an issue where some Green Sending's were disappearing when they shouldn't have. Rude. * Closed a loophole where Siena could give you the whole Lorebook. She shouldn't be able to do that, but it's so TYPICAL her that I'm not surprised that she did. * One or two people mentioned that Jake was disappearing on Elsewhere sometimes. That shouldn't happen anymore. * Resolved some spelling issues, however, please keep in mind the spelling in this game is UK English, so sometimes words that might appear misspelt to US English speakers aren't misspelt to UK English speakers. I'll consider doing a US English pack.
- We are officially out of Early Access! - 22 March 2019
THANK YOU. Seriously, thank you to everyone who helped us get here, my team and I are eternally grateful. Curtis
- Patch v0.3.3 - Controller and Keyboard only support! - 14 March 2019
In this latest patch, we've added the ability to swap from Keyboard and Mouse to Controller and Keyboard only play styles. You cannot, at this update keybindings. You can only update this from the Start Menu, meaning you cannot update it while you're playing. However, you can return to the Start Menu at any time, so the impact of this will be minimal.
- Patch v0.3.2 - Achievements and minor bug fixes - 13 March 2019
New features: - We have implemented six Steam achievements throughout the game. You will need to start the game from scratch in order to collect them all. Four of them are hidden. Bug fixes: - Numerous graphical fixes - Shadows should no longer disappear - Spoiler: Alex's name should now be consistent after it changes
- Patch v0.3.1 - Minor dialogue changes and bug fixes - 5 March 2019
Hi all, Patch 0.3.1 is out now. It contains numerous bug fixes, and also some dialogue changes to better clarify certain parts of the story. Let me know if you have issues. Your save files shouldn't be affected. Curtis
- Patch v0.3.0 - The Final Chapter is out now! - 1 March 2019
First of all - Your save files are likely broken. We're extremely sorry about this. However, we now know how and why it has been happening (better late than never, I guess?). So it won't happen in future patches. We have implemented Chapter III into the chapter selector which starts you exactly where Chapter II left off. Very sorry for the inconvenience. Just a reminder that we are in Early Access, so please let me know if you experience any bugs or find any spelling/grammar mistakes. My team and I do our best to pick these up, but some always end up slipping through. Also, some of these puzzles are harder than what you would have experienced with Newfound Courage in the past. Our intention with these puzzles is to make them satisfying but not to make them so hard that you have to stop playing and look up solutions for them. If you find yourself doing that, please let me know. New conte…
