• GAMEPLAY UPDATE - 2 August 2020

  Rugby Champions has been updated. The purpose of this update is to further balance the gameplay after the most recent update. Most notably, - The defensive performance of your AI teammates has been improved - The effectiveness of break tackles has been reduced - The ability of both teams to effect turnovers has been increased These changes make the game flow more like rugby, and make tactical kicking for territory a more feasible strategy. This is primarily because of the increased risk of being turned over when running the ball from risky positions, and the improved ability to hold ones own defensive line. As always, we appreciate your feedback in helping us tweak the gameplay, and look forward to hearing your feedback. Thanks for your support.

• MAJOR GAMEPLAY UPDATE - 26 June 2020

  This update focuses on gameplay and features the following, - New offload animations which allow for more rapid and realistic offloading. This includes blocking of offloads on angles where a defender in the tackle is preventing this. - New mauls which combined with the new offloads allow for more dynamic phase play. Press ‘B’ on attack to improve your chances of holding up the tackle and forming a maul. This also improves your chances of being able to offload and also opens up the possibility of popping the ball the halfback (press ‘X’) - Kick pressure and charge downs. Approaching the kicker on the angle at which he is trying to kick now places pressure on him which can result in a charge down or him having to alter the trajectory of his kick and potentially losing distance on the kick. When attacking take care to place your own kicks away from pressuring defenders to avoid charge down…

• Rugby Champions Update - 3 January 2020

  Rugby Champions has been updated to include the following, - A Celtic League competition format has been added featuring 14 teams from Ireland, Wales, Scotland, South Africa and Italy - Match engine improvements including fixing of the scrum right side run exploit and bug where play continues after a ball is knocked back infield after going into touch - Improved player passing accuracy, so that there are not excessive passes going to ground - More realistic simulation of tackles going to ground vs staying up. This means that it is now harder to get offloads away without forward momentum, and also harder to offload when there are multiple defenders in the tackle

• Rugby Champions Update - 22 November 2019

  - The default gameplay camera has been zoomed out to improve playability - The gameplay camera zoom and tilt can still be modified to suit your preference, and your preferred settings will now be remembered each time you play a game - The side steps have been improved so that they are more realistic, requiring later execution closer to the defender than they previously did - The speed of slow-motion kicking has been increased to provide better flow - An in-game controller guide now displays during gameplay to ease the learning curve for game controls. These can be turned off during match play by going to the Settings menu - The crowd audio has been improved to offer a more immersive experience - The volume of music and SFX can now be adjusted independently to suit your preference

• New addition:-Southern Hemisphere Competition - 21 October 2019

  This update includes the following, ​ - The ability to exit slow mode while kicking. This allows kicks to be executed more quickly by exiting slow mode once you are happy with the kick direction and power.​ - A Southern Hemisphere 15 competition format has been added​ - This competition can be played for unlimited seasons​ - A player recruitment system has been added which allows the recruitment of players during multi-season competitions by exchanging points earned through wins and bonus points​ - A player improvement system has been added which allows boosting of player skills and attributes by exchanging points earned through wins and bonus points​ ​ Thanks for playing and we really hope you will enjoy the update. More competitions and features are planned for future updates.

• More realistic AI v AI quick simulations - 16 September 2019

  Rugby Champions has now been updated so that the AI v AI quick sims produce more realistic results. This means you can expect much tougher games in the playoffs in general, because poorer teams are less likely to qualify. It still remains possible for poorer teams to win, but just less likely. So in theory, the All Blacks could get knocked out in the quarter finals, the Springboks could lose to Japan, and England could fail to make it out of their pool. Of course none of those things would ever happen in real life ;)
