- Official Q&A Thread | 2026 - 9 September 2026
You asked, we answered, and will continue to answer! Our official Q&A Thread is now open in the Paradox Forums! Whether you're looking for answers or want to ask a new question, this thread is the place to be! Whatever it might be, feel free to hop in and post your questions in the thread, and we will answer as soon as we can. Roads and InfrastructureQ: How can the game provide more flexibility in road design, such as varied road widths and default restrictions for pedestrians on highways? What about road naming? A: We haven’t looked into how feasible it is, but something like the road builder mod included in vanilla Asset Editor could be a possibility. Live editing in-game is probably out of scope, though, we would need to look more into it to give a definitive answer. Pedestrians on highways are a fallback, and if it happens, then something else already went wrong. If the recent fixe…
- City Corner #12 - Collected Questions - 3 September 2026
Hello Mayors!Previously, in the world of City Corners, we talked about our next patch and what kind of changes you can expect from the upcoming update, which will arrive in mid-September. Naturally, City Corner #11 was followed by a bunch of questions from you, and after seeing some of the same questions pop up, we thought: “Why not put the answers somewhere where everyone can easily find them?” So, that’s what we are doing today! While we wait a little longer for the release of our next patch, we have gathered some of the hottest topics and questions in one place, along with the answers to help clear things up. This time, we are mostly focusing on general improvements and simulation, but if there is a specific area you would like to hear more about or have questions on in the future, let us know! Now, this is a chunky one, so let’s dig in! How do we decide what to fix? As many of you m…

- City Corner #11 - Autumn Breeze - 20 August 2026
Greetings, Mayors! Our next update is on its way, and in this City Corner, we will take a closer look at some of the changes coming with the upcoming patch. We will go through a number of gameplay adjustments, including changes to citizen behaviour and how some of the systems in your cities work, as well as some visual improvements. There are also a few smaller tweaks to go through, so let’s dive in and talk about what’s coming in the next update!Improvements to GameplayIn the upcoming patch, we have put a lot of focus on improving the behaviour and logic of the game. For example, we have worked on adjusting the Garbage Truck’s logic so that trucks now reserve enough capacity for the waste they are expected to collect at their intended destination. Previously, garbage trucks sometimes collected small amounts of garbage from buildings along their route, causing them to fill up before reac…
- City Corner #10 - Expanding the Modding Tools - 11 August 2026
Hello Mayors! It’s time for another City Corner, and this time, we will be talking about an aspect in Cities: Skylines II that hasn’t really been touched upon in our previous updates: the Asset Editor. We have started working on improving the modding tools, and there are a number of quality-of-life improvements we want to highlight in this City Corner, like smoother workflows, asset localization, and placement overrides. We will also take a look at the mod support and what our plans are when it comes to managing your mods. Let’s get started, shall we!Smoother Workflows in the EditorLet’s begin with the Editor. For our upcoming patch, we have started working on improving the tools in the Asset Editor, aimed at reducing repetitive clicks and making it easier for creators to navigate and edit their assets. First, we have added a new launch parameter -startEditor to open the Asset Editor on…
- City Corner #9 - Happy Six Months! - 23 July 2026
Hello Mayors!Six months ago, we at Iceflake Studios took the mantle of development of Cities: Skylines II. Since then, our primary goals have been to improve the game, address long-standing issues, and build a stronger foundation, so we can optimize and develop the game well into the future.Working on this game for the short time that we have has been very satisfying. We have been very busy, but the rewards have made it all worthwhile. Taking on a big project like Cities: Skylines II might have been daunting at first, but all the great feedback we have received, along with the kind words and communication from the community, has made the experience even more enjoyable and rewarding. In this City Corner, we are taking a look back at what we’ve accomplished during these first six months, and highlighting some of the biggest improvements that have made their way into the game.Overview of t…
- Patch 1.6.0f1 - Summer Solstice - 22 June 2026
This patch can affect some custom maps, but loading of old maps and savegames is supported.Gameplay:Fixed a bug where citizens would always travel to the shop with the most stock, completely ignoring distance.Households now re-evaluate moving home less often, improving performance in large cities.Tourists, commuters, and vacationers now walk along highway shoulders less often when entering or leaving the city.Fixed citizens taking absurdly long trips across the entire map. Pathfinding limits are now tailored per trip type: work, school, shopping, and leisure each use a sensible range rather than a shared near-unlimited cap. Citizens who can't find a viable route now handle it gracefully: move-outs teleport off-map, workers drop their job, and leisure-seekers idle at home before retrying.Note: there is at least one known remaining issue where students may still walk too far.Office goods…
- City Corner #8 - Transforming the Terrain - 11 June 2026
Summer is here, Mayors!Welcome back to another City Corner, where we will be going through the upcoming changes that will arrive with our next patch, Summer Solstice! This patch introduces improvements to gameplay, especially to citizen pathfinding, as well as a major overhaul to terrain texturing.Without further ado, let’s paint a clearer picture of what’s new in this update!Gameplay UpdatesFor this patch, we have made adjustments to the gameplay and citizen behavior, especially when it comes to pathfinding. In our upcoming patch, the citizen pathfinding has been adjusted in a way that they will make more sensible decisions when choosing stores and leisure activities, and going to work or school, which reduces the excessively long trips across the city. Pathfinding limitations are now tailored per trip type, and each type uses a more sensible range rather than a shared, almost unlimite…
- Hotfix - Patch 1.5.10f1 - 1 June 2026
This patch should not affect mods, and loading of old savegames is supported. After our previous patch, we received a lot of reports about being unable to save, or receiving ‘NotSupportedException’ error. We want to thank everyone who participated in testing out the open beta branch that we released related to this issue! We have prepared a hotfix that addresses the symptoms of this saving bug. Our research suggests that the actual issue was introduced by the addition of Asset Editor last year, but it stayed hidden until our recent change. We are still looking into the root cause of this issue and plan to release a complete fix for the bug in our next patch! However, in the meantime, the current fix should be enough to keep your game going and saves functioning. Misc:Fixed issue with saving old save games.Fixed issue with saving custom maps.

Hello Mayors! This patch should not affect mods, and loading of old savegames is supported. After our latest patch, we received a lot of reports about the long loading times that occurred when starting the game. Thank you again for your comments and patience while we were working on a solution! We have now prepared a hotfix that addresses this issue, which you can read more about below. Paradox Mods:Fixed long loading times when mods are loaded at startup. Misc:Info and Warning level logging no longer print callstacks to log files.Fixed a crash when loading a save game.Post-mortemWhen you started the game after the recent patch, you might have noticed that the startup loading times were a lot longer than in previous versions, especially if you had large amounts of mods active. As always, if you have anything that you would want to report after playing 1.5.7f1, then you can submit a bug report over on our forum! Big changes are also coming to Paradox Mods!
