The November Humble Monthly bundle is giving up not one, not two, but three games in one of the most generous early unlocks so far. You can pay 10/$12 to get access to Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Call of Duty: WW2 immediately. That's some crazy value for a trio of games that would cost well over 100 or $100 at full price! It makes a dramatic change from last month's bundle that only offered up Battletech as an early unlock when it was announced. Sonic Mania did follow a few weeks later, though. Now that we've entered October, the rest of the games in that bundle have also been announced. - Spyro Reignited Trilogy's first PC mods make it retro again - 13 September 2019
It's been just over a week since Spyro Reignited Trilogy first glided onto PCs, which means there's already a bunch of mods for you to try out. Somewhat hilariously, many of these (and indeed the most popular) are ones that seek to make the remastered Spyro games appear more like the original titles. We have come full circle. Also, someone's replaced the Spyro model with a Shibe from Nintendogs. Do it for the memes. Over on Nexusmods, the current most-popular Spyro Reignited Trilogy mod is Aveean's Classic Spyro mod , which takes the new model and gives it the retro Spyro colours. According to the mod description, Aveean was inspired to create this following a Reddit request - and simply because they liked the original colour. - Spyro: Reignited Trilogy is now available on Steam - 4 September 2019
Originally released in 1998 for PlayStation, Spyro the Dragon belongs to that pantheon of '90s collect-em-up 3D platformers that, while good at the time, haven't aged particularly well. And yet, when the Spyro: Reignited Trilogy released for PS4 and Xbox last year, the critical reception was surprisingly glowing. Gamesradar gave it four stars, writing that it "hasn't let go of its unique, kid-friendly charm". Anyway, nearly a year later, the trilogy has made its way to PC and is currently available on Steam . The package includes the original Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. It's no mere up-res either: studios Iron Galaxy and Toys for Bob have basically rebuilt the game from the ground, resulting in a lush modern aesthetic with none of the, uh, charmingly retro trappings of the PS1 era. There's been one burning question on everyone's mind at E3 this year: Will Spiro Reignited Trilogy be released on PC ? We were already pretty sure the answer was "yes," but today Activision laid all doubt to rest with confirmation that it's coming to Steam—yes, Steam—on September 3. The Reignited Trilogy will include the classic console action of Spyro the Dragon (1998), Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage (1999), and Spyro: Year of the Dragon (2000), overhauled with "enhanced environments, a remastered soundtrack, updated controls, brand-new lighting and recreated cinematics."
