Some machines have reported lag, regardless of hardware. After some tinkering and help from Squamousness, we have isolated the issue. Under the main menu, there is now the option to turn effects on/off - previously this menu item only controlled weather but now it also includes the advanced lighting. This should deal with the problem for now until we can further investigate that part of the game.
