  • Terraria State of the Game - August 2026 - 30 August 2026

Greetings Terrarians! So, 1.4.5.7 is out for PC, coming very soon for Console and Mobile - how exciting! We hope you all enjoy what is on offer with this latest Terraria update. The next few steps in our journey are pretty exciting, and we cannot wait to share all of that with you in the months ahead. For now, we have left a few hints in this month's developer update sections. We are currently on the road at Gamescom with the majority of Team Terraria and that has been equal parts productive and ridiculously fun. We will share more about our travels later on. All that said, let's cover what has been going on over the past month and a tease for what lies ahead, shall we? On with the show! PC - RE-LOGIC TERRARIA 1.4.5.7 - RELEASED LAST WEEK FOR PC We hope that everyone has been enjoying what Terraria 1.4.5.7 has to offer over the past week or so. As we mentioned previously, we will be w…

  • Terraria 1.4.5.7 - Out Now for PC! (Console/Mobile Soon) - 19 August 2026

Greetings Terrarians! At long last, we are pleased to announce that Terraria 1.4.5.7 is out now for PC! Terraria 1.4.5.7 is the latest and last (barring any critical fixes needed) hotfix for the Bigger and Boulder update. It has a heavy focus on balance, including stat and functionality changes to existing items and even some brand new items that we are sure you will all enjoy. Of course, while we were at it, we dealt with some outstanding bugs and more. We decided to post this update separately vs with all of the other hotfixes given its scope. We had originally planned to sync this release across PC-Mobile-Console, but with Gamescom coming up next week (more on that below), we had to make the call to get PC out now and then get Console and Mobile into submissions immediately. This allows us to have the update out, time for any critical fixes, and then the submissions can run their cou…

  • After 10 years, Terraria's biggest mod shuts down due to an 'irrecoverably tainted reputation' and grooming allegations - 11 August 2026

Terraria has a passionate and wide-spread modding community—and the jewel in its crown for many years was Calamity, a mod that was on a scope of an expansion pack, adding new bosses, weapons, and so on to the survival crafter. It's existed for 10 years, but it'll now be shutting down due to some heavy allegations levelled at the mod's currently absentee owner... Read more.

  • Terraria State of the Game - July 2026 - 30 July 2026

Greetings Terrarians! Hot enough for you out there? The way we figure it, there is no better way to dodge these insane heatwaves than getting some game time. Of course, we remain hard at work on the latest update (1.4.5.7) as well as laying the groundwork for what is to come soon thereafter. Parts of the team are also gearing up for some upcoming travel. It is an exciting time for Terraria and our team, and we cannot wait to share that journey with all of you in the coming months. For now, we will just leave the details as a mystery! Let's dive right into the latest Terraria news... PC - RE-LOGIC TERRARIA 1.4.5.7 - THE FINAL PUSH Terraria 1.4.5.7 is nearing completion at last! We expect to have development work wrapped up shortly, and then we just have to do a localization pass (getting the various translations and adding them in) and the latest Terraria update will be ready for submiss…

  • Terraria 1.4.5.7 is finally giving my favorite weapon type the love it's deserved for years - 26 June 2026

There's not much you could have said to get me more excited for the next Terraria update than this. Re-Logic is currently working on a big round of balancing and additional weapon changes for the upcoming patch 1.4.5.7, with the goal of making every class feel worthwhile and fun to play. As part of that, it's finally taking a look at what is unquestionably the most fun offensive option in the sandbox indie game - yoyos. In a new Terraria State of the Game for June 2026, Head of Business Strategy Ted 'Loki' Murphy talks about yoyo upgrades, crossplay plans, and the largest hotfix in Terraria's history. • Terraria State of the Game - June 2026 - 25 June 2026

Greetings Terrarians! Another month in the books! It has been a hectic one indeed, between work on 1.4.5.7, doing some interviews for the Design Works book, getting ready for some upcoming events in the fall, and more. We are very ready to get what we hope will be the last (or darn close to it) hotfix update for Bigger and Boulder into your hands and then to get rolling on what comes next. Crossplay and beyond, the future is going to be a fun one. Before then, we are getting ever closer to wrapping up what has to be the largest "hotfix" type update in Terraria's history. We do think the time taken will be well worth it, as we are trying to tackle a number of outstanding topics at once. Of course, we will see what you make of it and cannot wait to hear that feedback. All that said, let's see what lies in wait for this months State of the Game... PC - RE-LOGIC TERRARIA 1.4.5.7 - THROWING…

  • It seems Terraria's developer is as bad at making small updates as it is final ones, as it says its latest balance patch is much more than 'adjusting a few numbers' - 30 May 2026

Back in January, Terraria finally received its gargantuan 1.4.5 patch. Three years in the making, 1.4.5 was supposed to be the final update for the long-running, massively successful survival-crafting game. But it turns out that developer Re-Logic is terrible at making final updates, having committed to at least one further major patch in the future while leaving the door open for more... Read more.

A new Terraria State of the Game has just arrived for May 2026, and developer Re-Logic has made "a ton of progress on 1.4.5.7" in the past month, according to the studio's Head of Business Strategy Ted 'Loki' Murphy. He says the next Terraria update "is shaping up nicely, we think, and thank you for giving us the time to try and get it as right as possible on the first go - a big challenge with any balance-based task." As the latest spoilers reveal, however, the changes on the cards are more significant than simple numbers tweaks. • Terraria devs reveal the game's average playtime on PC is over 100 hours as it passes 70 million copies sold - 17 May 2026

Whenever I remember I have 80 hours logged in Terraria, I'm a little shocked because it doesn't feel like I put nearly that much time into it. Turns out, those are rookie numbers anyway—in a blog post published yesterday, developer Re-Logic shared a bunch of stats and revealed that the average PC player's logged time was 101 hours and 18 minutes... • As Terraria turns 15, Re-Logic confirms crossplay is "soon" and that "updates will continue beyond 1.4.6" - 17 May 2026

Terraria is 15 years old this weekend, in just the latest terrifying video game anniversary to make me feel ancient. That's given developer Re-Logic a moment to reflect on how far it's come, share a few of its most impressive stats, and note that crossplay is getting close. "That is a long time indeed," Head of Business Strategy Ted 'Loki' Murphy writes. "That's 131,400 hours - which quite a few of you have chosen to spend with our humble game." • Celebrating 15 Years of Terraria! - 16 May 2026

Fifteen Years?! That is a long time indeed! That's 131,400 hours - which quite a few of you have chosen to spend with our humble game. To say that reaching this milestone is equal parts insane and humbling is a massive understatement. It is really hard to put into words what your support for these many years has meant to our little studio. Simply put, you all are the engine that makes this all work. Your support allows us to keep going, keep expanding upon Terraria, without having to fall back to price increases or microtransactions. This is becoming increasingly rare in modern gaming, and we cannot thank you enough for making what we do every day possible. From the hardcore players with thousands of hours to those just discovering our "metroidvania in a sandbox" today... from the builders to the speedrunners... from those that we interact with regularly in our community to those that j…

A new Terraria State of the Game update is here, and developer Re-Logic is finally tackling some of the long-term combat frustrations that have been the bane of the sandbox game for many years. Head of Business Strategy Ted 'Loki' Murphy comments that the Terraria 1.4.5 launch feels like "just yesterday," but says the team has been "head-down working away on post-launch support." With balancing at the center of the next Terraria patch, he believes this next overhaul won't be the last, but hopes that crossplay can move up the priority list soon. • Terraria State of the Game - April 2026 - 1 May 2026

Greetings Terrarians! How in the world is it almost Summer already?! It feels like 1.4.5 launch was just yesterday... Our team has been head-down working away on post launch support for 1.4.5 and we really think everyone is going to enjoy what is coming soon in Terraria 1.4.5.7. You will get to see a bit more of that in the update sections below in this State of the Game. As it is balance focused, we are certain there will need to be some tweaks in what we assume will be 1.4.5.8 before we can hopefully - at long last - call 1.4.5 done and move on to the wonderful world of Crossplay. We received our Terraria Board Game copies as well, but we haven't really had time to dive in yet. There is so much more in the works for this year, it should be a fun ride!
