- Prologue Maintenance Update, September 2023 - 20 September 2023
Hello everyone! We have just released an update for The Riftbreaker: Prologue. The latest version features dozens, if not hundreds, of bug fixes, gameplay improvements, as well as upgraded graphics. The Prologue version of the game is now on par with the full version of the game when it comes to features and code base. Since the last update of the Prologue, we have made considerable progress in several areas of the game. The most noticeable change is the addition of Volumetric Lighting effects. Thanks to this technique, you can enjoy the improved fog and light scattering effects that greatly benefit the atmosphere of Galatea 37. The new version of the Prologue also includes a number of quality-of-life fixes. You will now be able to use mass repair, deconstruction, and upgrade tools to take care of your base more efficiently. An all-new clone tool will help you speed up the construction…
- Maintenance Update, February 9th, 2022 - 9 February 2022
Hello everyone! We would like to let you know that The Riftbreaker: Prologue has been updated with all the latest features and improvements from the full version of the game. The Prologue is now on par with the full version of the game from a technical point of view. For the past couple of months, we have been focused on introducing changes and fixing issues that players have been reporting to us in order to make The Riftbreaker gameplay as smooth as possible. The vast majority of the most requested features and bug fixes have already made their way into the game. As our focus shifts to bringing World Expansion I and the online co-op to life, we feel that it is the right moment to update The Riftbreaker: Prologue with all the improvements we have achieved. We won’t be publishing a full changelog for this build, as the number of changes we introduced is truly massive. Instead of that, we…
- Design a Weapon - Vote Now! - 19 January 2022
Hello everyone! https://media.giphy.com/media/pEvQIpBILSB47y59nQ/giphy.gif Thank you for the huge number of replies to our weapon design contest! You showed a lot of creativity trying to fill in the blanks in Mr. Riggs’ arsenal. It was extremely difficult for us to pick and choose the best designs. However, some ideas seemed to garner a lot more interest and cropped up more than once, so we decided to shortlist these ones as our candidates. https://media.giphy.com/media/TPbBHYqzK7CfEg0jfe/giphy.gif Our chosen designs, in no particular order, are: DESIGN 1: Totally-Not-BFG - suggested by: Dragonkat, Genjator The first among the fan-favorites is a take on the classic ‘BFG’. It is a slow-firing, energy-based weapon of mass destruction. This weapon shoots out an energy ball that travels slowly along the ground, dealing damage as it passes through enemies. After some time, the projectile exp…
- Alien Weapon Technology - 14 January 2022
Hello Riftbreakers! In The Riftbreaker, your job is to explore and gain knowledge about Galatea 37, an entirely unknown planet in the far reaches of the Milky Way galaxy. While doing your research, you will discover a lot of new substances and chemical processes that were previously unheard of. This, in turn, will allow you to push the boundaries of engineering and construct new tools, upgrades, and, of course, weapons. Today we will take a look at two such toys that might prove useful during your mission to Galatea 37. https://media.giphy.com/media/KB1HFdWKl1dG509L9T/giphy-downsized-large.gif?cid=790b76110fe17c628c2514f88c4a18d2a2377597aa8d2e61&rid=giphy-downsized-large.gif&ct=g The first such weapon is the Corrosive Gun. A wide variety of Galatean creatures utilize various kinds of acids as their main survival mechanism. This naturally, inspired Ashley to look into adopting this uniqu…
- Design a Riftbreaker Weapon! - 12 January 2022
Hello everyone! Long time no see! https://media.giphy.com/media/mHaQ7laJMKv6SItazc/giphy.gif With the holiday season finished we are officially back to work in (almost) full force. As we continue our work towards the next item on our roadmap - world expansion number one - we are going to present you with regular updates and ask for your feedback along the way! We can’t overstate how big of a role you - our community - have played over the course of The Riftbreaker’s development. Thousands of hours put into the Prologue and Closed Beta, pages upon pages of Discord messages, and all the reports that you have sent our way through all the other channels have shaped the way the game is like today. We would love to continue that and is there a better time to do so than right now?! Obviously not! The first Riftbreaker world expansion is going to bring a lot of new and exciting content for you,…
- Soundtrack is up on YouTube - 3 November 2021
Hello Riftbreakers! To have a little break from patch notes (which are still coming this week), we have something a little bit different for you today. We have uploaded the entire soundtrack from The Riftbreaker to YouTube for your listening pleasure. The soundtrack features 14 atmospheric compositions, written and performed by Marcin Pukaluk. They are quite a bit different from the music you hear in the game, as they all have been remade and mastered with standalone listening in mind (in other words, separately from the game). Marcin decided to reimagine these tracks because the music in the game required him to stay within some limits. For example, you do not want your battle music to have a one-minute-long intro. The fight might be over within that minute. However, the same intro might work really well and make the entire piece more complete. Without any game-specific restriction, Ma…

- Researching the Galatean ecosystem - 24 September 2021
Hello Riftbreakers! Last week we told you about one of the aspects of The Riftbreaker Campaign Mode - Planetary Exploration. During those events, you will make your first contact with the new biomes and take your first steps into familiarizing yourself with the conditions you will have to endure. Today, we will look at the more scientific part of Ashley’s work on Galatea - sampling and analyzing alien species and phenomena. While exploring new biomes, plenty of things will catch Ashley’s attention. Among them, you will find new alien species, extraordinary crystal formations, as well as other never-seen-before anomalies. Ashley’s scientific spirit will desire to scan and categorize all of them, and she won’t be able to do that based on a single sample. Mr. Riggs can help find more material for scanning by adjusting his sensors to mark potentially scannable objects. He can also program t…

- Prologue Update - Save Feature now Avaliable - 3 September 2021
Hello Riftbreakers! We are happy to tell you that The Riftbreaker: Prologue is receiving a major update today, including hundreds of fixes, tweaks, balance changes, and most importantly - the save feature. Finally! What took you so long?! Yeah, we know… Let’s answer this question in two parts. Part One: The Save Feature When we first released The Riftbreaker: Prologue we thought that it would serve as a bite-sized teaser of the full game. It was meant for around 30 minutes of gameplay and as such wouldn’t need a saving feature at all. It was also at a time when the save system was quite unstable and going through a lot of changes, so even if we enabled it, we couldn’t guarantee compatibility of the save states between versions of the game. It turned out that a lot of you have been playing the Prologue for a lot more time than 30 minutes. In fact, we received multiple screenshots from us…
