- Silent Hill now has an official Twitter account, fans set themselves up for disappointment - 2 August 2020
Konami has been upping Silent Hill's social media presence, and fans of the horror game series are getting excited. A new Twitter account, and some cryptic tweets from Konami itself, has more than a few thinking we might finally get a substantial announcement for the iconic franchise. Let's start with Konami's tweets . On July 31, the studio put up a video of the siren sound from Silent Hill 2, along with the caption "Close your eyes. Always scary. Silent Hill 2 siren.". This caused quite a stir, many taking it as the start of some promotion or other. Not the case, follow-up tweets saying it was just some nostalgia from the social media team watching people stream Dead By Daylight , and that any genuine news would come from an event, or the official Silent Hill twitter . The internet being the internet, everyone then went to the official Silent Hill twitter account, which was only start…
- The only thing scarier than Silent Hill is Silent Hill in first-person - 10 November 2019
Though Silent Hill received an upgrade of sorts courtesy of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories on the Wii in 2009, the original 20-year-old game is one of few instalments of the psychological horror series that arguably hasn't aged well. Fans of old still appreciate it, of course, but new players may struggle with its dated graphics and control scheme. Until now, perhaps. Though not sanctioned by Konami, a long-time fan has remade the opening of Silent Hill. While it's only a few minutes long, the demo has taken five months to complete as all assets were traced and remade from the original models, plus the switch to first-person perspective brings you (uncomfortably) closer to Harry's horrifying ordeal. - What's your least favorite entry in an otherwise good series? - 18 August 2018
With videogames so full of long-running series it's inevitable that even the ones we enjoy will cough up the occasional dud. Whether you didn't like the combat focus of Fallout 4, or the sci-fi setting of Grand Theft Auto 2, or the underwhelming aliens of Mass Effect: Andromeda, or pretty much anything about the first Witcher game, it's easy enough to think of examples. So that's our PCG Q&A this weekend, where we ask both you and our team members: What's your least favorite entry in an otherwise good series? Give us your hot takes in the comments below. Samuel Roberts: Assassin's Creed 3 Assassin's Creed's quality has been pretty variable over the years, but most of the main entries are worth playing for one reason or another—usually the environments. But Assassin's Creed 3 oversimplified every interaction so that I barely felt like I…
