- Patch 2.0 Beta: Day One - 4 October 2026
Ahoy! Thank you to everyone who is playing the beta and sending us reports about bugs, issues, and crashes. You are the best community we could ask for, and a patch like 2.0 is only possible with players like you. I can see that many of you are already getting worried and judging the beta as if it were the final product, even though it is still very, very far from its final state. Where we are right now We really did rebuild the game from the ground up. At the moment, only about 80% of it is complete. In game development, 80% does not mean “almost finished.” It means “it has only just become playable.” The visuals right now are not simply unfinished — they have barely been tuned at all. Our current priority is fixing crashes, hardware and driver conflicts, and performance issues. After that, we will finish the remaining technical systems, including anti-aliasing, the ocean, and clouds.…
- Patch 2.0 Open Beta - 3 October 2026
Ahoy! Open Beta 2.0 is live! The game has finally climbed out of the 2000s — into the 2010s! And in places, the 2020s. ːcharles_happyː This post comes with a hearty list of 200 changes We've unbanned everyone banned in our Steam community A new game is required! During the beta and after the full release you may have to start over again — or you may not No mods will work The game now has graphics settings — don't forget to dial in your own Speeding up and slowing down time on land is off by default — you can switch it back on in the new game settings This is not the final level of quality — the game will keep being tuned and put together How we got here This beta and this patch are unlike anything you've seen before. I don't know of a single game that has ever gotten an upgrade like this in a patch. To move the game onto new technology, we first had to take it completely apart — and the…
- About the Franchise - 23 September 2026
Ahoy! Caribbean Legend is about to turn three. The project will get its final patches and DLC — and then it ends. But our story won't end. Quite the opposite — it's only beginning, because Caribbean Legend is now not just a game, but a franchise. Now: Two games, 11 DLCs. Soon: Caribbean Legend is getting a huge 2.0 update with new graphics, effects, and physics. And right after work on the project wraps up — an official modkit with a full-fledged IDE. The modkit already looks so good and works so smoothly that sometimes it feels like you're looking at a Unity window, not Burya Engine. Caribbean Legend: Age of Pirates still has to figure out what it wants to be, but I believe in ReCon Team, so I expect at least 3–4 more major patches with fantastic new gameplay mechanics and quests. A bit later: In the coming years, at least one more big game will sail under the franchise flag. Maybe two…
- Course to 2.0 — Chapter 4/5 - 12 September 2026
In case you missed it: Caribbean Legend: Age of Pirates — mega-patch 1.2 and the third DLC are out. So far this is the biggest update our favorite classic has ever seen. Be sure to give the game a go and grab the DLC — I'm certain that if all goes well, ReCon Team won't let us down and will keep the updates coming. https://store.steampowered.com/app/4969720/Caribbean_Legend_Age_of_Pirates/ Ahoy! Joruba here. One more diary to go after this one. Which means the 2.0 open beta is closer than you think. A huge thank you to our friends on the alpha testing team, who helped us track down all manner of issues across different PC configurations. Before I hand the mic over to our game designer, I'd like to revisit what we set out to do with 2.0—and what you'll soon get to play for yourselves. The update will require a new game. At its heart are four major improvements. New graphics give the game…
- Course to 2.0 — Chapter 3/5 - 21 August 2026
Ahoy! Joruba here. The closed alpha for Patch 2.0 is going live August 23rd!Participants will be notified in their Alpha Discord channel. This is an incredibly important milestone for me and for the team. We have been working toward it ever since the release of 1.0. As one of our new teammember recently put it: “The progress is awesome. It’s a strange feeling, watching the game grow into something I never thought possible. I’m really enjoying seeing the specialists do their thing. It honestly feels like magic.” I’m very happy that more people will soon get to see it for themselves. Kirill, break a leg. Set the studding sails! Course for the Bay of Creativity! Kirill here, and a very emphatic welcome to you all. This is our third development diary covering the gameplay side of Patch 2.0. When the fifth diary goes live, the open beta for Patch 2.0 begins. Last time, we covered the foundat…
- Course to 2.0 — Chapter 2/5 - 7 August 2026
Ahoy! Set the studding sails! Course for the Bay of Creativity! Kirill here, and a very emphatic welcome to you all. This is our second development diary covering the gameplay side of Patch 2.0. Today, we begin exploring one of its key changes: the new in-game economy. Unequal Earning Potential Broadly speaking, there are only three main ways to make money in the game: piracy, trade, and quests. There is also treasure hunting, but I consider that a type of quest: find someone selling a map, buy it, sail to the right place, locate the chest, and get into a fight. There is a clear divide between these activities, and each has problems of its own. Piracy means risking your ship and spending resources to capture valuable cargo. The spoils receive a hidden “stolen goods” rating, which experienced players can erase through a warehouse exploit. For newcomers, piracy remains difficult, risky, a…
- 1.9 Hotfix #1 - 30 July 2026
Introduction Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts after Update 1.9 launched. We read all of your feedback—positive and critical alike—and it genuinely shapes our continued work on the game. Our goal has always been to deepen and diversify the gameplay, not to turn Caribbean Legend into an exhausting grind or make it inaccessible to players who simply want to enjoy a thrilling pirate adventure. This update is another step toward refining the new systems and improving the game’s overall balance. Thank you for helping us make Caribbean Legend better! Changes The player’s Health and Energy bars in the combat interface now update smoothly and use improved display logic. Poison, remaining healing charges, and critical hits against the player and officers are now displayed in the same way as they are for enemies. Added tooltips for input modifiers (Shift, Ctrl, and RMB). The new inp…
- 1.9 Shipshape Update - 23 July 2026
Ahoy! What’s on deck:The game is now 75% off—our biggest discount ever, and it will not go any lower;Immediately after this sale, we will significantly raise the game’s price;Major Update 1.9 is out now;No new game required; We recommend disabling mods;Ship, crew, and cannon management have all been overhauled;New events have been added to towns and jungles.Upcoming Price IncreaseVersion 2.0 has taken the entire team a year of hard work. Once it arrives, Caribbean Legend will finally leave the 2000s behind and enter the 2010s. We believe that raising the price of a game offering 200 hours of content with greatly improved visuals is only fair. Here are both previously released teasers for Update 2.0, in case you missed them:Caribbean Legend is currently on 120,000 wishlists, and it would be unfair to raise the price quietly without warning—or without giving everyone one last chance to get a…
- Patch 2.0 | Teaser Trailer #2 | Coming 2026 - 17 July 2026

- Course to 2.0 — Chapter 1/5 - 27 June 2026
Ahoy! Raise the sails and set a course for the Bay of Creativity! Kirrill here — glad to have you aboard. This is our first development diary focused on the gameplay side of patch 2.0. We’ve done a tremendous amount of work, and I can’t wait to show you what’s changing. There will be five diaries in total, and once the last one is published, the 2.0 Beta will become available to everyone. Let’s start tracking the progress right now! A New Playthrough and Deeper Roleplay Patch 2.0 will require starting a new game. We’ve said this several times before, and that has not changed. Many of you have already seen the beginning more than once: the same heroes, the same backgrounds, and very limited room for roleplay. It is time for big changes. Backgrounds We have substantially reworked the old Backgrounds and added new ones. Each Background now comes with 2 personal perks and 1 naval perk. Let’…
- 1.8.2 Performance Patch - 23 June 2026
Ahoy! BlackMark Studio is sailing full speed toward patch 2.0 — we have been working so hard that there has been no time for news at all. That will change soon. We already have specific dates for the alpha and beta tests. We have a release date. This week, we plan to release the second teaser and the first 2.0 development diary. And today, we have released patch 1.8.2. No new game required. The sole focus of 1.8.2 is performance This is a major foundational effort, and we are sincerely grateful to Wazar. We have achieved a significant improvement in stability and performance. Now even the most demanding areas — whether it is a crowded Willemstad, a large naval battle, or a massive land fight — run noticeably better. The game code has been massively reworked. In some areas, FPS has increased by 40%. Important warning The patch has gone through the most intensive testing on our side, but…

The DEV build of 2.0 can already be completed from start to finish with the new visuals. What you saw in the teaser is not a demo. Even the original untouched locations, ships and NPCs already look dramatically better. On a GTX 1060, you're looking at around 100 FPS. No drops, no stuttering. No AI, no ENB, no DLSS. - GD Notes #8. Accessibility. - 20 March 2026
Ahoy! Hoist the topsails — set a course for the Bay of Creativity! Kirill here. These notes go with 1.8 Maritime Update. I’ll address the most common questions and concerns — and share some fresh promo materials. No fluff — straight to the point. Heading indicator A lot of you pointed out that the heading palette was too bright and harsh on the eyes. Fair call — we’ve toned it down significantly. If you’re not a fan of the three-color gradient, we’ve also added a two-color option: speed is represented through intensity, and the colors themselves are noticeably calmer. You’ll be able to choose the colors that work best for you in the settings. Colorblind mode But even that isn’t the whole story. One comment under the previous diary really stuck with me: “I get that Corsairs gameplay isn’t exactly about inclusivity. But could we have arrows like in To Each His Own? I’m colorblind and I ca…
- Age of Pirates — OUT NOW - 13 March 2026
Ahoy! Two big things are happening this month. In a couple of weeks (fingers crossed) — the version 2.0 teaser. And today — the remaster of City of Abandoned Ships. On the menu: Age of Pirates launch The Franchise Rescue Plan™ Patch 1.7.3 Gifts OUT NOW https://store.steampowered.com/app/3549020/Caribbean_Legend_Age_of_Pirates A remaster of City of Abandoned Ships — one of the greatest open-world pirate RPGs ever made. Back in its day, this was a rough, uncompromising game. It didn't hold your hand, didn't forgive mistakes, and didn't open up easily. But the few who pushed through the rough edges of the original were rewarded with dozens of hours of unforgettable adventure. Now it's ready for a new audience. And it still has plenty to offer the old one: Modern controls Hundreds of improvements and refinements Dozens of side quests, a mountain of new content Letters of marque and Navy car…
- GD Notes #7. Wind, Cannons and Boarding. - 6 March 2026
Ahoy! This is Joruba, head of BlackMark Studio. Caribbean Legend: Age of Pirates is coming soon — next week, March 13th! A must-have, totally worth a purchase. https://store.steampowered.com/app/3549020/Caribbean_Legend_Age_of_Pirates/ In case you missed it: it's a remaster of City of Abandoned Ships. A standalone game developed by ReCon Team with a focus on open-world sandbox gameplay, featuring colony capture, letters of marque, and a female playable hero. BlackMark Studio acts as publisher, providing the engine and the best features from Caribbean Legend. Sorry, Kirill, had to be said. The mic is yours. Break a leg. Hoist the topsails — set a course for the Bay of Creativity! Kirill here. These notes go with 1.8 Maritime Update. Today we’re polishing some of the oldest sea-faring systems: heading to the wind, boarding, and naval gunnery. But first — a few answers. Q&A The previous GD…
- GD Notes #6. Seasons - 27 February 2026
Ahoy! Hoist the topsails — set a course for the Bay of Creativity! Kirill here. Consider yourselves officially and emphatically greeted. This is the first proper devlog for 1.8 Maritime Update, and today we’re talking about Seasons. The idea hit me when, during one of my playthroughs, I got a notification that my three-year trade license (earned in the Dutch quest “Prison Break") had expired. And I thought: “Wait… three years already? And I didn’t even notice.” That’s when it clicked: the game didn’t really have a sense of time. The Caribbean just… exists. And you, as a player, simply explore it. A bit of historical context In the Caribbean Sea, “seasons” don’t work the way people from temperate climates expect. No familiar summer and winter with temperature swings, no red-and-gold rainy autumn days in Cuba, no spring thaw and first snowdrops in Antigua. But that doesn’t mean the archip…
- GD Notes #5. Patches & Roadmap - 20 February 2026
Ahoy! Hoist the topsails — we’re setting course for the Gulf of Creativity! Kirill here. Greetings, everyone. While you’ve been busy playtesting CL: Age Of Pirates and arguing about how tough the Blood storyline is (highly recommended if you haven’t tried it yet), we’ve been hard at work too. New Horizons At the start of 2026, the plan was to ship patch 2.0 and, possibly, 2.1. Patch 2.0 would have meant starting a new playthrough — and it would have brought a ton of new content and mechanics. But 2025 turned out to be a great year for us: we secured additional resources and expanded the dev team. That gave us a much bigger runway and let us build far more than we originally expected. BMS working on two patches at once. Live footage. This spring, we’re releasing a major themed update that won’t require a new game. It’s aimed at improving parts of the game we haven’t touched in ages — and…
- Age of Pirates — Release Date and Price Revealed! - 18 February 2026
Ahoy! This is Joruba, head of BlackMark Studio. The Caribbean Legend: Age of Pirates playtest is officially over — and it was big. The game held up remarkably well. For a beta, the bug count was impressively low. Some of you logged dozens of hours, cleared most of the side quests, and hit a serious character level. That means a lot to us. Thank you! ːrespect_soldierː Reading through the comments, it's clear that some players aren't quite sure what this game actually is — or how it's different from Caribbean Legend. If that's happening, that's on me as a publisher. Let me clear things up. ːrespect_soldierː Why didn't you just merge AoP content into the base CL? Age of Pirates is a remaster of City of Abandoned Ships. Caribbean Legend is a remake of a completely different game — each built by a different team, at a different time, with a different design philosophy. Both run on the Storm…
