- Fallout 3 PC is broken for some, here's how to fix it - 19 April 2024
It's fair to say the Fallout TV show has been a massive hit and spurred on many people to replay some of the Fallout games, while also introducing a whole new generation of gamers to the series. However, if you've been tempted to jump into the first 3D version of the game series, Fallout 3 , which is just $2.49 on Steam, you may have found it either doesn't run at all or doesn't run well. If so, here are a few ways to fix Fallout 3 for Windows 10 and 11 users. Fallout 3 is available in two versions on Steam. There's the original Fallout 3 release or the Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition , which costs $4.99. These fixes should apply to both versions of the game, though your mileage will vary a great deal based on the exact version of Windows you're running and all the hardware in your system. - After more than a decade, Fallout 3 GOTY no longer needs Games for Windows Live on PC - 13 October 2021
Remember Games for Windows Live? It's a name I've not heard for a long time, but something which was still plaguing Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition on PC until just this week. Games for Windows Live was Microsoft's much-hated first attempt at getting Xbox Live-style features on PC, stuffed in a launcher that no one wanted to use, and initially for a $50/year subscription. After launching back in 2007, many PC games at the time were coded to require GFWL - including Fallout 3 GOTY - although most have since been updated to no longer need it. Read more

- VATS a lovely-looking Fallout 3 remade in Fallout 4 - 27 February 2018
Fallout 3, which will be 10 years old this year (good grief!), is being remade using the Fallout 4 engine for the Capital Wasteland project. It's making good progress judging by a new video, which shows the player meeting the Brotherhood of Steel paladins at Tenleytown Station and going on to take down a Super Mutant Behemoth. It doesn't quite have the crumbly atmosphere of the original game but it looks undeniably more up to date. Here's the Capital Wasteland footage next to relevant sections from the original Fallout 3 game. Read more…

- New Fallout project teased by Fallout 3 voice actor - 9 January 2013
A new Fallout thing is happening. Erik Todd Dellums, voice of Three Dog from Fallout 3 (pictured) recently proclaimed that "there may be more of the Dog coming!" While noting the cruelty of the tease, he added that he was "given permission to release that tease," whatever that means. As OXM pointed out, the actor also retweeted the following fan response: "I know you can't say but I can state the obvious.. either 3 Dog in the fallout sequel or 3 dog in Fallout Movie." The former seems more likely than the latter, if you ask us. If Fallout 4 is impending, it would make good on producer Todd Howard's goal of seeing a new entry in the franchise " before 2018 ."
- Fallout: New Vegas strategy guide is bigger than War and Peace - 15 October 2010
At more than half a million words long, the strategy guide for Fallout: New Vegas will be the biggest ever released, and will dwarf famously giant literary classics like War and Peace. It's also roughly the same size as the script for one of designer Chris Avellone's previous games, Planescape: Torment. Trufax, and more of which below. The hefty tome will list every enemy in the game, detailing where they can be found and what they carry, and give the player more information on the many factions that inhabit the new wasteland. The guide also painstakingly maps over two hundred locations in the world, and lists every item in the game. As a secondary use, you ever find yourself in a post apocalyptic wasteland, you'll be able to strap it to your chest and it should double up as a useful piece of armour. The book comes in two flavours, the standard edition for $25, and the bigger, harder ed…

The five DLC packs for Fallout 3, previously only available a la carte through Games for Windows LIVE on the PC, are now available on Steam for $9.99 a pop. The Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition, which includes all five add-on packs, has been available since October 2009, but now gamers that purchased the original release on Steam can get in on the DLC love. It is also available on Direct2Drive , if that's more your flavor. * Fallout 3: GOTY Edition - $49.99; * Operation Anchorage - $9.99; * The Pitt - $9.99; * Broken Steel - $9.99; * Point Lookout - $9.99; * Mothership Zeta - $9.99; If you're wondering where to start, Broken Steel is a must-have as it takes the story beyond the ending of Fallout 3 and raises the level cap. Point Lookout is widely considered to be one of the best DLC add-ons and I had a good time with The Pitt. Operation Anchorage and Mothership Zeta aren't as great,…
