  • Cyberpunk Fest and Explaining the Warped Universe Roots - 4 August 2026

Warped Universe is in Steam Cyberpunk Fest this week, Aug 3-10, which seemed like a good excuse to talk about where our look came from. Where the look came fromBack in our brainstorm phase we were discussing old sci-fi movies we loved, all of us being huge sci-fi fans, and as we discussed the ideas and looks and how they came to be, we started looking at the actual concept art of those movies. The Blade Runner concept art by Syd Mead really struck us with the watercolor look and contrasting colors. It had this mystique, where retro meets future. We love contrast, and finding balance, and we feel that his work really shows the balance well. Our game is very much old meets new in many ways, and we all became fascinated with Syd's work to the point where we decided that we should make our game look more like the concept art, and Syd's other works expanding beyond Blade Runner, rather than…

  • New Gameplay Trailer - Residuum Missions in Warped Universe - 12 June 2026

With the new Residuum maps included in our recent patches, we decided to make a new gameplay trailer, now added to the Steam page as well as here on Youtube: Residuum is everything in Warped Universe. It is the source of all matter and life, and you need it to expand the solar system. These missions matter because that resource gets fed into the Planet Printer built into the underside of Nexus Station. Planets start out in a rocky birthing state, but collecting Residuum actively evolves them into a "printed state" that you can experience. Each planet has different environments that get unlocked with Residuum missions.Dive into fast-paced combat on low gravity asteroids, on ground or in space flight (your choice), and break up raw Residuum clusters before the Void claims them for themselves. If you don't see any Residuum missions on the map right now, work on a Pylon sector. Doing that wil…

  • Month One: What We’ve Built Together, and What’s Next - 5 June 2026

Welcome Back Champions!A month ago we launched Warped Universe into Early Access, and it's been a hell of a ride since. We’ve always had a vision for this universe but a game like this only truly comes alive when players step into the servers. The response and feedback, both positive and negative, has really helped guide us and inspire us on what needed to be fixed and improved, and what was connecting most with players. The Warped Universe is a meta-driven game that reacts and moves based on players, and seeing it finally breathe is an amazing feeling for the whole team.Throughout this month, we’ve hit over 100 reviews, and we’ve read and digested every single one of them. Some people put massive amounts of detail and effort into them to point out what they liked and didn’t, and it’s been incredibly helpful for us in getting these patches out. We have a huge list of things to do, but s…

  • New Ground Combat Gameplay Trailer - 2 May 2026

Since we previously put up a spaceflight combat gameplay trailer, it's now time for a ground combat one. This is a peek into how chaotic things get when void tears open up and enemies start swarming. The fun is when everything starts to go sideways. Come experience it on May 6 when we go into Early Access. We've got more coming after launch too, like new skills that tap into the light and gravity sides of Warped Universe. We can't wait for you to play. May 6 isn't far now.

  • Monthly Development Update - March 2026 - 24 April 2026

May 6th is the Early Access date. It's coming fast, and if we're being honest, the studio is sitting somewhere between nervous and excited right now, probably closer to both at the same time. We're in that final stretch where you're just grinding through the list, trying to make sure everything is where it needs to be before real players are actually in the game. This month was a big balance pass for space combat, enemy AI turn-based, UI, performance... pretty much everything. Some of it was big swings, some of it was just things that needed fixing and finally got fixed. Either way the game is feeling a lot better for it, and we're feeling good about where it's landing. Minus the lack of sleep. There's still work to do, there always is, but we're ready and excited.

  • New Gameplay Trailer - Spaceflight and battles in Warped Universe - 22 April 2026

We've made a lot of progress on space in terms of both visuals and gameplay. More environments to explore, more debris and stuff to fly around, ship trails and visuals improved, and better controls. We also have drift mode for spaceships now, which is really fun while in battle. So, we made a new gameplay trailer featuring just space flight in Warped Universe. It's the second video in our Steam gallery now. Here is the Youtube link as well: Early Access opens on May 6! We're so excited to let everyone play on May 6 when Early Access opens up on Steam and Epic. Come join the battle and explore the Warped Universe!

  • Monthly Development Update - February 2026 - 24 March 2026

February was all about pushing gameplay forward. This month we rolled out a complete revamp of space missions and maps, alongside major improvements to enemy AI, combat flow, performance, and just overall making the game feel better. The result is a faster, more reactive, and more continuous combat experience across both real-time and turn-based gameplay. Space has seen the biggest transformation. Missions now take place across distinct sectors, with different environments near planets and the sun which has made a huge difference in making each encounter feel more contextual and varied. Combat has been reworked to stay active, with ships continuously spawning to maintain pressure, new Void Ship enemy types entering the fight, and improved AI making engagements more dynamic. Systems like weapon overheat, missile-equipped enemies, boost lock on damage, and smarter targeting all add more m…

  • The Great Simulation: Results - 21 March 2026

We ran The Great Simulation March 11-18 and the testers delivered. For those who missed it, we compressed a full 4 month season into one week to stress test the solar system metagame from start to finish. Here's where the system landed by the end of the week:Population: 902,104Power Plants: 20/20Farms: 20/20Housing: 20/20Spaceports: 6/6Research: 30/30Factories: 58/58Season Progress: 100%Players Connected: Players jumped on Discord and started coordinating on their own. Which sectors needed what, which facilities to prioritize, how to buff the system for everyone. Automatic updates were sent to our Discord for each time a Sector was completed or discovered, and shouted out the player who completed it. The system felt alive and churning. It was great to see. What we are tuning going into Early Access:Individual stat progression is getting a boost. Some players put in serious time this week…

  • The Great Simulation Is Live - 11 March 2026

The Great Simulation Kicks Off NowMARCH 11-18 A full season runs about 4 months. We're doing it in one week. Progression and unlocks are accelerated so you can actually see how everything connects. Sectors, planets, pylons, exploration. Every mission feeds the system. This will help players see how their actions affect all in the Universe, and also helps the team stress test progression and make sure all the systems are nice and oiled. We also built new in-game UI that shows all system progression data and milestones so you can watch the solar system map evolve as it happens, and get updates every time you log in. We also have implemented a way for the game to push milestones in progression to our Discord too, with credit going to whoever pulled it off. One week. Then it resets. March 11-18. Jump in to our Discord to help us test and experience The Great Simulation!discord.gg/warpedgames

  • Monthly Development Update - January 2026 - 18 February 2026

After taking in a great deal of feedback from testers, the primary focus of January was on adding variability to the gameplay on ground missions. Previously, we had one enemy type, and although missions were played on different facilities and planets, they felt repetitive with the same enemy type each mission. So, a major focus was on adding new enemy variants. You now have different ways of being attacked or blown up, from creatures big or small, slow or fast, and some with deadly accuracy… This has opened up the gameplay massively. We also replaced NPCs with “Warped styled” characters and expanded customization options to fit a greater variety of game players.Alongside variability, plenty of refinements were made to enemy behaviour and weapon stats, both of which have really cleaned up the way combat is intended to feel. On a side note, we realized why space combat was so hard for a l…

  • End of 2025 Development update - 21 January 2026

The past two months have been all about strengthening the core of Warped Universe while bringing the game to life. Across November and December, we focused heavily on the new-player experience, progression systems, combat depth, UI clarity, audio immersion, and long-term engagement, laying a stronger foundation as we close out 2025.Nexus Station received one of its biggest updates yet with a brand-new, multi-part introduction that replaces the old Embry’s Hope sequence, which was a decision we made after watching players during Steam NextFest and at Gamescom. We threw too much at new players too early, and it overwhelmed too many people so we decided to change it up. This new flow includes multiple training missions that guide players through both space and ground combat, giving a smoother, more intentional start, while getting players into the game faster than before. Along the way, pl…

  • Monthly Development Update - October 2025 - 18 November 2025

For the last few months we have been gearing up for Steam Next Fest on October 13–20. For PC games, it is considered one of the most important events in a new game’s marketing and exposure prior to release. Next Fest requires a demo version of the game, and for the game to not be released or in Early Access yet. We fit the bill, and worked hard to provide a proper demo experience of Warped Universe. While preparing for Next Fest we made sure to reach out to as many streamers on Twitch, Reddit, TikTok, and more to gauge interest and see if they’d like to play the game. Luckily many did, and we were so excited to have them along for the ride.Next Fest debut gave thousands of players their first hands-on experience with the game, and the feedback has been incredible. Over 2,000 demos were downloaded, with strong playthrough rates, returning players, and a surge of new wishlists. Seeing ship…
