  • Quick Fix Customization Screen - 2 October 2025

The previous fix for window resizing inadvertently made the customize screen a fully blacked out scene. You had to randomly pick your customizations, but that should be fixed now!

  • Transparent Framework Patch - 8 September 2025

Large code patch today, that should have no impact on gameplay (other than slightly better load times when reloading levels). The patch today was to improve a bunch of areas of my shared framework, which is used between games. There were things that were added in this game that will be useful for future games and current prototyping, so I wanted to make these improvements official in the framework. If you run into any issues let me know! But hopefully it's smooth all around.

  • Sheep for the Stars Update 1.1 - 4 September 2025

Sheep for the Stars has been out for almost a month now, so it's time for a 1.1 version with all the accumulated bug fixes and adjustments from feedback. Some of the stuff listed has been deployed in previous minor patches, but I'm consolidating all of the updates and details into this one post along with some other changes that went into this current version today. As always, thanks everyone for all the feedback you've left through Steam Reviews, Discord, Reddit and even YouTube Shorts. That's right, I watch your shorts and look for feedback in there too! If you have any more feedback or thoughts and praises, feel free to continue sending them through all those channels!Balance and PlayabilityIf you tried the game early on in the launch, these changes might be for you! Since the initial release there have been a few tweaks made to the balance and difficulty of the overall single player…

  • Fixing Steam Lobbies - 4 September 2025

Hey everyone, there have been a few bugs related to Steam Lobbies that are finally fixed in the latest patch. Here's a summary of issues: - Quitting a multiplayer game and rehosting results in ghost lobbies that can't start games - Quitting a multiplayer game can cause clients to be unable to join the host again without a restart - Disconnecting during a match can also relate in the above issues - Slower connections would sometimes end up in an issue where they can't ever see any lobbies in the list - Additionally, the same connections also had a problem hosting games after a game can end The above issues have all been fixed (yay!). But there are probably some new ones, please let me know if you run into any more and either leave a comment here or reach out on the Discord Server to figure out a reproduction case so I can get it tackled quickly. Workarounds you can use if you have issues…

  • Quick Lobby Bug Fix 1 - 3 September 2025

There's a potential issue with cleaning up Steam lobbies on game exit. This quick fix will improve some of these behavior while I continue testing out some other potential issues.

  • Default Lobby Settings - 27 August 2025

Improving default lobby settings for a better overall multiplayer experience out of the box.

  • Sheep for the Stars is Out Now! - 22 August 2025

Welcome everyone!Sheep for the Stars is now fully live! Yes it did release a couple weeks ago, but I decided to hold off on that update to include all the changes in here.First of all, thanks to everyone who's been playing the game so far! There have been a lot of playtesters jumping back in to play multiplayer, quite a few content creators hopping in and having a blast (eg: ), and lots of great feedback and bug reports across all channels. The support so far has been great, keep it coming!UpdatesThe game launched with the time-trial campaign mode and as a quick last minute addition, the challenge mode with three selectable difficulties. Once you've completed the base levels in the initial campaign, you can attempt runs through the entire set to your personal best times with the cumulative time tracking. The hardest challenge mode also ends your run when you fall in the water, which has…

  • Balance Updates - 20 August 2025

Made a second post for this one to call it out directly. A few of the S-Rank times were just a little too optimized, so I've relaxed the times a little on some specific early levels, and added a bit more buffer to the last two worlds. Don't worry, the challenge still remains, these times were only adjusted by 1 second in most cases and 2 seconds on a few of the longer levels. You'll still need a very well optimized route to get there on time, it's just marginally easier.

  • Another Really Quick Update - 20 August 2025

Another quick update today to try to adjust a couple things, this time mostly cosmetic. Visual: - Foreground outlines on platforms and characters are a bit more bold, making the visuals a little more striking and more intentionally stylized - Skyboard / full background layer has a paper texture applied to it, again to add some stylization and separation from the foreground elements Gameplay: - Increased camera field of view slightly, includes about 5% to 10% around the edges of the screen in visibility - This should help finding better approaches to levels, and make the falling boulders just a tiny tiny bit less frustrating and easier to path around Let me know if you have any feedback or other small changes QoL changes. Thanks everyone for playing and your reviews so far!

  • Minor Bug Fix Patch - 20 August 2025

We had a great multiplayer stream on Twitch with the RandomKarl crew, and found a few interesting bugs to fix. Here's a quick update regarding the things that were caught and fixed. Multiplayer - Fixed issue with lobby configuration not synchronizing correctly for higher latencies - Fixed issue with sheep potentially spawning off map - Fixed issue when spawning off map that causes level to end prematurely - Fixed issue with supporter pack skins not working during multiplayer celebration screen General - Fixed issue with camera tracking when synchronizing level load. Camera will now track players as they spawn, instead of zooming in and out very quickly when synchronization finishes - Reduced time to hold reset button when retrying levels (single player modes only) Thanks everyone for all the feedback so far!

  • Enabling Restart Button on All Levels - 8 August 2025

Just a quick update today regarding the "Press to restart" functionality in the game. Previously you needed to complete a level before the ability to restart a level was enabled. This is now enabled on all levels, making it a bit easier to set your initial clear times without having to navigate back and restart the level. Additionally changed the restart button to be a "hold to restart" button instead of an instant press. This will avoid any restarts by accident ruining that perfect run. Happy sheeping everyone! Thanks for all the feedback so far.

  • Releasing on August 7th! - 29 July 2025

It's been a while, welcome everyone! For the last little while I've been heads down working away at the launch version of Sheep for the Stars! Recently, I announced that the launch day is August 7th.There have been so many changes recently that I'm excited to share with everyone on launch. Here's a summary of some of the big changes.Challenge ModeSome of the feedback I received on the game previous was a mix of "this is too easy for a rage platformer" and "the high level of difficulty ruins the experience". I figured the best way to try to accommodate as many players as possible was to increase the options to play the way you want. This is a strategy I'll continue to use on future games as well.To make the game a bit easier for newcomers, I tweaked the difficulty selector. The easy difficulty level now provides 2 additional fuel and a more lenient ambient fuel charge while falling. This…

  • Demo Update Post Next Fest - 30 June 2025

Thanks everyone for checking out the game during Next Fest! I received some great feedback, personal reviews, and play reports. It was great seeing all the reactions to the game.I've been pretty busy the last couple of weeks, but it's time to start the journey to release. Currently hoping to have the full version of this game out in July, but will have an update when I have a better idea of what that looks like.Demo Update DetailsI made a couple very small QoL updates to the gameplay. Nothing super noticeable, but the player controller is a bit tighter in responsiveness now. Additionally, collisions have been optimized a bit better to have more player friendly interactions with near misses.I've also made some changes to the UI. The old button style (settings menu, multiplayer options) have been updated to fit the general stylization of the game a bit better. This is also in preparation…

  • Next Fest Update and Fixes - 12 June 2025

Thanks to all the new players so far in Next Fest. This is the first time I've had a game in Next Fest and so far it's been great! I've had a chance to chat with some of you so far, and looking forward to seeing how things go going into the weekend.I wanted to take some time to do a quick update to the demo now that some more players have come through and checked it out.DIFFICULTY CHANGESSo far I'm keeping the changes to the game difficulty to a minimum, but always looking for feedback from all players. Whether you're a precision platformer pro or new to this game, maybe the cozy graphics pulled you in. I'd love to hear from anyone that has feedback for the game! Discord, Reddit or Steam Communities are all great places to get in touch. That being said there are two small tweaks in this build to help with some difficulty or potentially more edge cases that can feel a bit unfair outside o…

  • What is Sheep for the Stars? - 24 April 2025

Hey everyone, lots of great feedback so far. Good to hear from people trying out the early access / prototype demo, and excited to keep hearing from you all! Today I want to just chat a bit about what the game is, some ideas behind it and what the future might hold for it. Of course, there's still a lot of time for this game to evolve before some of the "no turning back" details are locked in! What is "Sheep for the Stars"? This game is a precision platformer (or rage-bait platformer), designed around the classic "vertical climb" recipe. Master the systems and movement in the game, climb through levels (against gravity) where small mistakes could result in a fall back to the beginning of the level / zone. Though this genre is heavily inspired by games like Jump King, Sheep for the Stars has a larger focus on the racing aspect of the game. Master each section to compete for better time s…

  • Demo Playtest Live! - 4 April 2025

Hey everyone! We're trying something new with Sheep for the Stars. We're doing sort of an "early access" demo, launching it early to get some multiplayer and game-feel feedback directly from you! Working alongside players and fans, our goal with this "extended playtest in the form of a demo" is to get some really early feedback on the essential core of the game when it's still in a stage to overhaul many parts of this core. We'll also be updating the demo frequently, with more polish and features while collecting this feedback so expect many updates! Can't promise a frequency but once a week is probably a good estimate. Thanks everyone for playing the private playtest up until now, and looking forward to more players enjoying the game in this next public playtest phase! As also, hop in the discord server and drop any feedback you have. There's also a direct link to discord in the demo i…
