  • Adding Russian, German, Simplified Chinese, and Brazilian Portuguese - 2 October 2026

Version 0.1.5.5 of Grimdelve brings language support for Russian, German, Simplified Chinese, and Brazilian Portuguese! These translations where done via machine translation and likely contain errors. If you play using these language options and encounter errors, please reach out to me here, via the Steam forums, or through the in-game feedback form and I will do my best to correct them! I am aware of minor formatting errors and will be working to correct those before release. These are the only languages I currently plan to support as even doing machine translation takes a lot of time! Grimdelve is very dialogue heavy and English will always be the ideal language to experience the game in, unless at some point in the future I can fund human translations.Version 0.1.5.5 also brings minor bug fixes and gives Jaro a boulder pushing animations!Thank you for your continued support of Grimdel…

  • Grimdelve Will Release November 9th, 2026! - 18 September 2026

Grimdelve will be fully released on November 9th, 2026. With that in mind, the demo has been updated. Please wishlist the game and spread the word to all who will listen! From my last post to this one, a lot has changed in the game, but most of these changes are outside of the demo! I have worked hard to make sure branching choices come to a satisfying end, the characters feel real and distinct, and the game is fun to play. Grimdelve is in a state I am really proud of, though I shall continue tinkering and bug fixing all the way up until November 9th (and likely for some time after that as well). Demo Update Version 1.4.0Major map reworks have occurred, in the demo this appears most noticeably in Arx.Reworked the start of the game considerably to give more Gisela backstory and improve tutorials.2 full art CGs of both Mora and Odila! All characters who should have face art, now have face a…

  • Steam Next Fest Analysis & Celebration! - 22 June 2026

Steam Next Fest has officially finished and the data is in! I’m incredibly grateful for how this event went; overall, Grimdelve performed very well, particularly when compared to the average RPG Maker game. Here are my key takeaways from the festival:Traffic & Visibility: Grimdelve got 68,353 total impressions during the week, resulting in 3,772 page visits. That means a 5.5% Click-Through Rate (CTR). While this would be slightly low for a normal week on Steam, achieving this with the competitive noise of Next Fest means that the capsule art is working well!Wishlist Conversion: Of those 3,772 visits, 678 turned into wishlists. A 17.9% conversion rate is exceptional and serves as a strong indicator that the store page design is attractive and compelling to those who land on it.Demo Engagement: 233 people played the demo, and 69 (nice) of them wishlisted. That is a 29.6% demo conversion ra…

  • Adding Permadeath, Custom Music, and Small Bug Fixes - Version 0.1.2.5 - 14 June 2026

This is a small pre-Next Fest update to add a new feature I think is really cool as well as a number of smaller bug fixes. Hopefully with this build we have truly reached peak Grimdelve status and no new updates will need to be made for some time:Option to choose "True Mode" or "Easy Mode" when starting a New Game. True Mode adds the option to continue playing the game as the other living character whenever one character dies. Otherwise the two modes are the same.Fixed a HUGE bug where the demo would end way earlier than intended!!Added amazing new custom music, made specifically for Grimdelve, by BlackJacketBoysFixed bug where torches would disappear when interacted with from certain anglesFixed the boulder sprite shifting up and down a pixel when interacted with from certain anglesFixed a number of collision errors, particularly in the crawling sectionFixed the mines area being pitch…

  • Developer Plays Grimdelve For Steam Next Fest! - 5 June 2026

ToastyTime Plays The Grimdelve Demo!In this broadcast the developer of Grimdelve ToastyTime will be doing a full playthrough of the game demo. He will comment on everything about the development process of Grimdelve, which has taken over a year so far with still a few months to go! He will also dive into the feelings associated with being an indie developer and content creator and give advice to aspiring indie developers.Does me typing in third person sound more professional?

  • Grimdelve Delves into June Next Fest with Version 0.1.2.0! - 4 June 2026

Grimdelve well be delving into June Next Fest 2026 on June 15th! To celebrate, build version 0.1.2.0 has brought a lot of user requested change to the caverns of Grimdelve, as well as polished up a few areas that were lacking and fixed a few more bugs! This update though is mainly to prove that I do actually look at the feedback form and everyone who has filled it out has had an impact on the game in some way. Thank you for supporting this indie dev!Might now impacts stamina and Agility now only impacts speed (per feedback form)Added a text log in the menu for players who miss dialogue (per feedback form)Added an option to manually choose which button prompts appear, like Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo, etc (per feedback form)Fixed a bug with the boulder reset choice in the flood puzzle where resetting the boulders would not reset the completion state if one had already been pushed into pla…

  • Version 0.1.9.5 Improves Performance! - 20 April 2026

A number of people have been contacting me saying that Grimdelve slows to a crawl after the intro cinematic plays. After finally delving deep enough in my attic to find an old laptop to test the game on, I can confidently say that I have now fixed this issue. Steam was giving me trouble uploading the fixed Mac build, but the Windows one is live and Mac will follow shortly. Below are the changes:New option called "Visual Effects" that when toggled to Off will remove weather effects and extra lighting effects. These seem to have been the root cause of the performance issues.Updated NW.js to version 72. This should keep the game playable on older devices while slightly improving performance. The game is still somewhat resource intensive and I will continue work to optimize and improve performance. If you run into performance issues, as always feel free to email me at [email protected]…

  • Officially Moving From Alpha to Beta! - 9 April 2026

With build Version 0.1.9, the Grimdelve demo finally has everything in it that I want it to. It's now a solid representation of the full gameplay experience, which will build upon a number of the systems shown and deeply flesh out the game world. For this reason I'm moving it out of Alpha and into Beta, which doesn't really mean anything but sounds pretty official! The demo is now a very polished work and I've spent a great deal of time ironing out bugs (although I'm sure there will be more). Past the content of the demo I have now developed about 1-1.5 hours of additional content and the story is very well fleshed out! Full changes listed below:Fixed the issue with the cinematic video making the game unplayableFixed performance issues overall (hopefully)Fixed the issue where you are instantly detected if you save and reload the save during stealthFixed the issue where the game might fre…

  • Version 0.1.8 RPG Maker Festival HUGE Update - 9 February 2026

If you haven’t tried the demo before, there has never been a better time than now! This is probably the last massive rework of the Grimdelve demo. There is still some more art to come and likely bug fixes, but this update changes a lot of the core experience that I don’t plan to rework more of. In addition to every change visible in the demo, I have also built an additional hour of content past the demo that will only be available in the full release. Lots more to come and the demo remains a small look at the complete experience. Browse the list of changes below. Added more custom face art! Still a lot of placeholder art but eventually every character will have custom face artCompletely reworked trait system, cutting amount of traits in half while making each more impactful on gameplayRevised trait menu to include a graphic representation of each trait (4 placeholder, 4 finished art dra…

  • Demo - MAJOR Overhaul and Polish Ver. 1.7 - 3 November 2025

Grimdelve version 1.7 is chock full of quality of life, visual polish, and content updates. This is an extensive overhaul of most of the demo thanks to the feedback of Rainy Tei Production. Some of the included updates are:Voice actor JustTrent77 lends his voice to the opening cinematicImproved the blood and gore visualsCharacter motivations are clearer and more matureNew custom cursorRetooled the speech system for the yet-to-be identified green soldierFixed so many bugs and probably made some new ones...New face graphic art also coming soon, just waiting on my incredible artist! Good art takes time and yes I do say that with subtle anti generative AI undertones. Also also, I retooled much of the Steam page. Screenshots are more representative of current content, so look at those if you also want a sneak peak of all the new stuff in this update! The demo is nearing completion. Once it's…

  • Complete Demo? - Version 0.1.6 - 9 September 2025

Hello cavedivers,With Version 0.1.6 comes the skeleton of what I plan to be the final demo build of the game. Every bit of content demo-wise, at a basic level, is now available! However, polish and options related to traits are still subject to change. I am trying to find a happy medium between freedom of choice and being able to actually finish this game in a reasonable timeframe. Anyways, below are a list of additions and changes:-NEW CONTENT! There are new scenes past where the previous demo ended, showcasing the darkest parts of Grimdelve.-Some dialogue has been reworked to be less out of place / confusing.-Added some more sprite animations, including some more nudity (big day for the gooners).-Fixed the boulder pushing puzzle in the crawling section.-Fixed some footstep sounds to better match their environment.-Made the timer look better and break the game less (hopefully). The demo…

  • HUGE Audio Visual Update V. 0.1.5! - 18 July 2025

Grimdelve Alpha Version 0.1.5 brings with it a TON of much-needed and overdue features, such as:Super immersive, directional audio! I love footstep sounds so I gave everything footstep sounds!Text display sound effects! Now Grimdelve is similar to another game set underground...Cave dust! Caves are dusty, now Grimdelves caves look dusty too!Fixed silly bugs that you all found! Luckily none were game breaking...I attempted to do some custom sprite work.Stealth is much less broken now!Fixed a variety of grammar issues.TLDR: Grimdelve looks prettier, sounds better, and plays smoother. As always, if you find that it doesn't for you, be sure to shoot me an email: [email protected]

  • Version 0.1.4 Released - 19 May 2025

I have been getting some really great feedback on Grimdelve and some incredible people have helped me find a number of bugs! In this version, bugs in Grimdelve should be few and far between (save for the beetles you'll find scurrying around the caverns). "Fixed" stealth collision bug with a workaround Fixed move route bug that resulted in a hard lock Removed Arabic and instead created a randomized, gibberish language Fixed falling not causing damage Changed some dialogue to make more sense and flow better, including tutorial text Updated controller detection to *hopefully* show the proper button prompts Enabled the use of Esc to enter and exit the menu like in most RPG Maker games

  • Version 0.1.3 Stealth + New Gisela Content! - 4 May 2025

Version 0.1.3 brings HUGE changes to the caverns of Grimdelve, the biggest of which are brand new stealth mechanics and an additional ~10 minutes worth of scenes featuring Gisela! We are now nearing the completion of the DEMO content, currently only one more sequence featuring Jaro is planned. Once this is added, devlog updates will persist until the game is finished, which should hopefully take a year once the demo is in a completed state. NEW FEATURES: Stealth! Enter stealth mode to hide the sounds of your steps, but be careful because other things, like lighting your lantern, still make noises. Creep around in the darkness to avoid a new enemy, or try using your traits to get you away safely if you get caught! Scenes featuring Gisela! See her adjust to life underground and decide what first impression she will leave on her new fellows... Dialogue lines, both trait-dependent and not,…

  • MAC SUPPORT + Version 0.1.2 - 11 April 2025

Grimdelve is now available on Mac! All future updates will be available on Mac as well as on Windows, including the final version of the game! Now, for the actual update: What's new in Version 0.1.2? -BRAND NEW TRAIT MECHANIC! Now whenever your trait is used to influence dialogue choices, systems, or outcomes, a counter will tick up in the trait menu showing which trait caused it. This is in response to players requesting more feedback on what traits actually do. -I also changed the soldiers face graphics to better match their sprites. It is still placeholder artwork, but hopefully now it is less immersion breaking! That's all! 0.1.2 is a small but important update that I hope will make the game more accessible and fun! Thank you for playing Grimdelve, keep on cave diving!

  • Grimdelve Version 0.1.1 QoL Updates! - 7 April 2025

A few simple quality of life updates to improve the user experience and add general epicness: 1: Fixed a few character portraits (still using lots of placeholder art but made it match character sprites better). 2: Added the functionality to type on keyboard when naming your lantern (huge W, changed my life). 3: Added more feedback to actions to make the impact of things clearer (also updated some... critical sprites). 4: Added an exit option to the title screen. 5: Fixed a bunch of minor spelling and grammar issues (as well as changing some instances where the old currency name was in use. I mean cmon, who can say "Pfennig" properly anyway...) If you catch any other issues while trying out the demo, please consider filling out the in-game form or contacting me: [email protected]. I am still hard at work continuing the narrative of Grimdelve. I hope to get the demo to around an h…
