This thing could hold a hundred pieces easily.Himari and I have even been practicing dodging and picking up mochi ahead of time. I’m totally fired up for this.Himari:Yes.   Komari：Today is Setsubun, you know!It’s the day we scatter roasted soybeans toward the demon gate to pray for good health.And the beans we throw… fufufufufu.Himari：Today, we’re making three‑color beans, right?In a small pot, we add plenty of sugar, salt, and water, simmer it until it thickens,then turn off the heat and stir in the roasted beans… That’s correct, isn’t it?Komari：Yep, that’s pretty much it.Once the syrup coating them turns white and hardens,we add color using tea and powdered dried ume-shiso,and there you have it—three‑color beans!Those three colors come from the yin‑yang five‑elements theory,and they’re meant to bring good fortune. Heh‑heh!Himari：We studied that together, didn’t we!Komari：W-wahhh, you shouldn’t say that part out loud!
