- 0.2 Roadmap and Launch Plan - 13 September 2026
Feature Freeze For 0.2As we get closer to launch and Steam Next Fest I am focused on improving UI and UX for players. Any suggestions that have not made it fully into the game by this date of September 13th, the election simulator, and policy editor, will be pushed back and will be added sometime in November or December.I am at the stage where I need to improve the experience for existing features for the next month. The main focus is on election campaigning as it is still not finished, although I have made progress in that regard. Legislation and governing, the world archive UI and navigation, lastly a few final touches to strategic voting and electoral pacts for their UI and UX.Because of how important legislating, governing, and election campaigns are to the core experience, and given that it is much more involved than simply adding these features, I have to take serious time to impr…
- 0.2 Election Campaign Update - 7 September 2026
Election Campaign UpdateThis update brings a new election campaign system to StateOS. Based on player feedback, campaigns now put more emphasis on your platform, voter support, and the places that decide the race, with less routine management between decisions.Originally the game had been built on TPP for design reference, but during the re-design I decided I needed to go into a different direction, focused on strategy instead of operations.A new campaign from start to finishCampaigns now progress through three stages:Setup and introduction: choose your home base and prepare your campaign. Hiring staff and publishing a platform are optional, and staff salaries do not drain your funds during the setup phase.Build broad support: raise funds, recruit volunteers, reach voters, and develop your support across the electorate.Target the battlegrounds: use the campaign map to see where you lead…
- StateOS 0.2 August 19–29 Patch Notes - 30 August 2026
StateOS 0.2 August 19–29 Patch NotesThis update substantially expands election simulation, government gameplay, world generation, congressional geography, campaign management, and the overall usability of StateOS.Election Night OverhaulElection night has been redesigned as a dedicated results room, with clearer standings, filters, returns, margins, and reporting progress.National and regional maps now use consistent lighting, relief, boundary contrast, and theme-aware colors.Full-chamber standings now combine seats elected tonight with seats not up for election, providing an accurate picture of chamber control.Nights containing several legislatures can report each chamber separately without filling the screen with dozens of repetitive state panels.Chamber panels now fit their available space and can expand to show parties beyond the initial summary.Election cards now identify incumbents…
- 0.2 Release Candidate Out and 0.3 Development - 19 August 2026
0.2 Is Out Today0.2 has been the biggest update there probably will be in terms of difficulty for me and also the most substantial for adding core features back to the game.0.2 will need some extra work from me directly after this update. I do expect there to be bugs still lying around and some rebalancing of certain features like the new election system including some other changes.I plan on a series of small updates to 0.2 coming after this. I had to do a lot of testing as usual, but given the feature set, I'll need to release it and put together more refinements and changes to this massive update. The feature set is large and you'll for sure be able to explore it. My next update for 0.2 will be bug fixes, tweaks, and rebalancing to the new election system and other features most likely the scenario editor for example.Bugs reported for 0.1 have been addressed in 0.2. I will be patching…
- 0.2 Release Candidate Release Date And Some Features - 9 August 2026
0.2 Is Coming!I've been doing extensive testing and last minute changes for 0.2 over the past two weeks. The update will be massive and I'll be talking and showing screenshots of what is coming, but you can expect a release candidate on August 19th, a month since 0.1 released. This patch notes does not contain all screenshots or even all features coming in 0.2. But it covers most of it. Presidential primaries have been overhauled to be like they are IRL.Germany and the UKStateOS 0.2 brings in Germany and the UK, each with their own career routes: Prime Minister, Chancellor, the Bundesrat and the House of Lords. The UK has devolved legislatures, and their elections use their own local legislature maps.Elections work the way each country works. Holyrood counts 73 constituencies and 8 regional lists under AMS, with each party's D'Hondt divisor starting from the seats it already won in that…
- 0.2 Custom Scenarios, Parties, and Steam Workshop Support! - 31 July 2026
Ahead Of ScheduleHi everyone, another update from me. 0.2 is ahead of schedule and probably will release on August 30th instead of the original September 30th date. But I may still delay it if I need more time to test it, refactor, and work on it. I'd prefer not to repeat my old self here in regards to releasing broken experimental updates that people can't enjoy.I had promised Steam Workshop support months ago. Well it is now here. The Scenario Editor is much more detailed and also much easier to use.The problem was the old editor had a lot of features missing and wasn't easy to use. A bit complicated regarding coalitions which was a major issue with the old editor. Coalitions are important to the game itself especially in dynamic party popularity which is also added in 0.2.But having proper updates for party popularity in the scenario editor led to complications on the old Scenario Ed…
- StateOS 0.2 Devlog: Germany as a Parliamentary Federation - 23 July 2026
Welcome To GermanyA German campaign needs two ballots, overlapping administrative and electoral geographies, party lists, coalition government, parliamentary executives, Land governments, and a federal chamber whose members are appointed rather than directly elected.Germany now has its own campaign setup, candidacy routes, election processing, government-formation events, career progression, Bundesrat voting, legislation pipeline, and map read models. One Country, Four Geographic LayersGermany uses four related geographic layers.LayerCurrent coverageGameplay purposeLänder16Land governments, Land elections, regional statistics, and Bundesrat delegationsKreis and Kreis-equivalent areas418Canonical local population and popularity ledgerBundestag Wahlkreise299First-vote constituency contests and direct mandatesLand election districts843Landtag constituency contests, using the terminology con…
- StateOS 0.1 Release Candidate Is Out - 19 July 2026
After enough testing, I found no remaining bugs on my end and made enough tweaks to push through with this version of 0.1. You will notice major changes with the game. From the UI, to the removed features. Gameplay is the same if slightly simplified. It is a release candidate because I do expect you to potentially find any remaining bugs or hiccups that I didn't catch in my playtesting before a full release. Fingers crossed that there shouldn't be many left.I will be doing a proper update on progress for 0.2 soon and a proper introduction to Germany. Unlike prior versions of the game, these countries have been seriously changed and altered to fit their specific real life counterparts. This also includes the UK.Minor Balance IssuesThere can be landslide elections for one party I've done some work to balance it but the campaigning systems in 0.3 will be able to fully solve these issues. If…
- 0.2 Alpha Sneak Peak - 16 July 2026
Hi everyone, since 0.1 is essentially about finished for now, I'm doing the last rounds of play testing, some minor changes, I figured I'd showcase some of the features in 0.2 that I've begun working on already. I'm going to prepare a new trailer video and also images soon for the store page including a update to the storepage information.I just now figured out how to upload images into these Steam posts so I'll be able to share images on these devlogs.Keep in mind 0.2 may release in September 30th or earlier if I am ready. But I am taking serious time to test and improve each update first before I release them as the focus is for stable updates.Regional Parties, UK, and Germany! For certain countries, for now just the UK, you'll be able to select regional parties. Speaking of which, here is the new UK map.It is now split up in game and in the map into the several different jurisdictions…
- StateOS V0.1 Foundational Alpha Progress Update - 15 July 2026
General NotesHi everyone, been a bit since the last progress update but I have a lot to share. The update is essentially finished as of July 15th. I could release it early, but I'm doing final rounds of any rare bugs that may still exist in very long campaigns, and final changes to UI that I'd maybe want to make. You can expect the update to release on July 30th as usual for both the demo and the main version of the game.I also have a proper roadmap now for the game, and I expect to release the game into EA around update 0.4 or 0.6. So early 2027 or next summer.I already have begun work on 0.2 which will be released on September 30th. Each subsequent update will be roughly 2 months in advance. You'll notice store page changes right before the 30th as I'll need to replace the old screenshots with the new update screenshots and also a new trailer for the game.I also have changed the price to…
- StateOS v0.1 Foundation Alpha Release Date - 19 June 2026
StateOS v0.1 Foundation Alpha Release DateHi everyone,I have another update regarding the new update and looking at my progress giving myself a lot of extra time in case I'd need it, the release date is planned for July 30th 2026.StateOS v0.1 Foundation Alpha is a stable version of the game with some new features from the current experimental Alphas but those features are specifically core gameplay choices and QoL features. As for a progress report I would say the current update is 60% complete. With election systems complete. Last remaining changes to the campaigns in the game. Legislation is also in a good state, but I have not confirmed it is bug free yet, but it looks like it mostly is. I will have to make a few game design changes for legislation before it can be considered finished. The new map system is complete. Many systems have been rewritten and changed for robustness and futur…
- StateOS v0.1 Foundation Alpha Coming Soon - 8 June 2026
A New Stable Version Of The GameHi everyone, as I mentioned in April, I'd be working on a update of the game roughly being released in July. I'm on track to meet that and also as mentioned before this is not a content update. I have been aware of the bugs and the state of the game, hence why I'm making this post and to let you know I'm still working on the game.I've been busy at work thinking about the game itself in terms of the architecture and identifying the main bottlenecks currently in the game engine. After a while of trying to fix the large bug surface area mainly caused by state management in the front end, I decided to make some important changes to the game itself which will be within in this update.Think of this update more as a means of having a stable non-experimental version of the game that can be playable for long periods of time with little bugs. What Is Changing? Most f…
- StateOS Development Update April 20th - 21 April 2026
Hi everyone,Haven't posted or been around in a while so I figured I'd drop a status update on the game.I'm still working on the project, but I'm going to be taking things slower and also much more seriously. In July I'll be launching a major update to the game it won't be a feature addition update. I've added enough to the game for now. At this point what is important is that the game is playable as of right now, I can't say it is.The engine upgrade did help in some ways as it did, but it didn't fully solve all of the issues with the game. My development process had been so far more about figuring things out as they go.The major target for this next major update is stability over everything else.Besides that, I'm very busy nowadays, if you couldn't tell. I work for several companies now doing a lot of high level work, but I still have some time to work on the game.I will give another sta…

- V0.0.34: How Demographics Determine Party Popularity - 19 January 2026
V0.0.34: How Demographics Determine Party PopularityThe Coalition SystemEvery region in StateOS has different groups of voters called coalitions. Think of coalitions as voting blocs - groups of people who tend to vote similarly based on where they live, their age, education, and values. The Five Demographic DimensionsEach coalition is defined by five demographic characteristics:1. Location - Where they liveurban - City centers (70%+ urbanization)suburban - Suburbs and small cities (30-70% urbanization)rural - Countryside and small towns ( 70%: penalty = max(0.60, ...)RuralUrbanization > 30%: penalty = max(0.50, (100-urbanization)/70)Example: Urban Progressives in a 40% urban area get a 0.57× penalty (40/70 = 0.57).Coalition Modifiers (Runtime)Beyond demographics, each coalition instance has runtime modifiers:1. Volatility (0.15 - 0.50) How much this coalition swings between elections.Tra…
- V0.0.34 Early Look January 18th Patch - 18 January 2026
Fixes:Integration of the advancement logic for many systems right before the patch caused performance issues. I had to spend time re-writing and configuring a lot of the time advancement related code. The issue was multiple factors including data transfer speeds, unnecessary data processing and computation.I will need to do further performance changes as I have not fully implemented the performance features from the previous engine. The architecture once finally finished will really show you the performance gains which should be much faster than the previous setup.Worked on party popularity results for conservative and liberal parties within the United States per county and per state. Modified several states including Georgia, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Vermont, Hawaii, D.C, Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.Fixed wild swings that would happen towards libe…
