  • Improved spell cast logic - 28 March 2026

Lightningbolt cooldown only triggers if it hits a target (doesn't trigger if you cast it in the sky or at a target too far away to hit). -If only its cast and particles played, then the target is too far. If nothing played after saying "Lightning Bolt", then the speech recognition system didn't recognize what it heard as "Lightning Bolt". -Now players can tell when they need to say the spell again or get closer to target. Less ambiguity = better understanding and experience. Cast particles now play for Euphear too.

  • Wizards and Warlocks is out! - 28 March 2026

Hope you enjoy my first game! Most of the development time (6mo, Oct - Mar) was spent learning novel things, and 80% of the time was spent trying to make multiplayer work (It seems to! At least testing with my laptop and desktop on 2 Steam accounts, and with a few friends across the US).I've fixed every bug I've found, but you can only bug-test multiplayer games so much while alone with a desktop and laptop. Curious to see how W&W turns out if anyone plays. My objective was to learn a game engine and start pumping out my ideas. I've learned so much and gained insane confidence, even though I suck and have made nothing but trash. I'm so much better than before, and have too much to learn.Next steps: I was inspired and had some ideas, and executed them. I could spend time polishing and adding more mechanics, but that'd be using what I already know. I'm committed to fixing bugs if reported…

  • Bugfix # 0.0.46: Page Drop and Arena Chests fix - 28 March 2026

Fixed some Arena chests clipping into floor, so their pages were ungettable. (They were slightly visible but the floor was stealing their "hit", so you your attempt was hitting the floor instead of the page.) When dropping Extra Pages, they now drop below you and not in front of you, which should stop them from dropping into pillars and being ungettable. Even better, pages can now be picked up through a small amount of floor/wall, so if it gets dropped into a wall/floor, you can pick it up by aiming where it is and interacting (F by default), because the wall no longer blocks the attempt. Chests still block the pickup attempt so they still interact properly. Sorry for not catching this in advance.

  • Release Update (April) + Other notes - 22 March 2026

Guess I should probably have something here.I have a private playtest version of Wizards and Warlocks I've been using on my desktop and laptop to test functionality via real Steam servers, and with friends, to replicate the real player experience.Had some issues with specific spells and others with Proximity Chat, but I think I've fixed them all. I don't run into any issues testing with my desktop and laptop combo. Most of my buddies don't play games, so most of my testing has been alone, but server connections work and the game plays, at least across states in the United States. I think it's ready for release, so early-mid April is the goal. Initially, it was February, but then I ran into those bugs when testing FOR REAL via Steam.I'm making a trailer now because Steam requires it to release - I'd like to have fun moments captured, but I don't have anyone to test with, and definitely no…

  • Steam Deck Compatibility - 22 March 2026

I don't have a Steam Deck but my buddy does. Time hasn't allowed testing in-person, but we played the game online over Steam like all other players will, and tested with both of us doing the hosting and joining. He had what I think are good framerates on Steam Deck (60-90+ FPS) with default settings, which can be reduced in quality and resolution scale if needed for more frames. He had to increase his Voice Input Volume (how loud your microphone input is; this affects how loud the game receives your volume, and other players too) to get spells to register well, but that's easy to change in the settings menu.On my end, his voice quality was low and peaked occasionally, unlike his crisp volume in a Steam call. I've read online that Steam Deck has settings like Noise Reduction that often require tweaking for crisp voice settings in games. I can't test on my own so I hope it isn't difficult…
