- Developer Note #5 - 22 September 2026
Developer Note #5 Hello. I'm the developer of Three Kingdoms: Alias. I'm writing this developer note to share an update on the development of v0.6.0. Today, I have prepared some GIFs to show how much progress has been made on the combat system renewal. Please keep in mind that it is still very much under development. First, this is a field battle. Huang Zhong's archers have taken position on a hill, while Liu Bei holds the line and Zhao Yun's cavalry charges in. Being on a hill increases vision by +1, which also makes it advantageous for gathering information. Second, this shows a transport setting up a supply base and supplying provisions during a field battle. A green supply line connects to Liao Hua's unit, which had run out of Carried Food, and fills its provisions back up. Zhao Yun is outside the supply range, so supplies cannot reach him and his provisions have been depleted. Addi…
- Developer Note #4 - 7 September 2026
Developer Note #4 Hello, I'm the developer of Three Kingdoms: Alias. Today, I would like to share our progress on the domestic administration side of v0.6.0. The features described below are still in development and have not yet undergone sufficient testing, so they may change at any time. Even so, I wanted to share the direction of development and hear your thoughts. Please keep this in mind as you read. A great deal is being added, but starting with the institution system renewal should make the overall changes easier to explain. This is the new institution system. Previously, institutions followed a simple structure in which they unlocked one after another based on the number of cities you controlled. The new system uses a tech tree and calls for more strategic choices. You will eventually research almost every institution, but in the early and middle stages of a campaign, the order…
- Developer Note #3 - 19 August 2026
Developer Note #3 Hello, I'm the developer of Three Kingdoms: Alias. I am focused on development for v0.6.0. Many tasks are underway, but today I would like to share a little about the new combat system among them. I am developing a new combat system that is completely different from the one in v0.5.0. The system has not yet been fully validated, so it may not be updated exactly as it is shown here. I would appreciate it if you read this as a progress update. The New Combat System The new combat system is based on simultaneous turns. Each side enters the actions to be taken by each unit during the turn, then presses Execute. Every unit carries out its entered commands at the same time. The theme of the new combat system is information. The battlefield is covered in fog, and you do not know where the enemy is. Instead, your officers hold a council of war each turn to 'predict' enemy posi…
- v0.5.10 Update - 12 August 2026
v0.5.10 Update Hello, I'm the developer of Three Kingdoms: Alias. This update adds a response for click input issues in some Windows environments, and improves Boost and batch-selection controls, post-battle returns, and AI league flow. Windows Click Input Issue Response Added click-through recovery guidance We have added a response for an issue in some Windows environments where the game window appears but clicks are sent to the desktop instead of the game. If a previous launch ended unexpectedly without normal input being confirmed, a recovery prompt will appear on the next launch and you may choose a fullscreen retry for that session only. If the issue continues, you can copy diagnostic information from the prompt to share with us. If the issue occurs again First, close the game and launch it again. If the recovery prompt appears, you can choose Start in Fullscreen for This Session.…

v0.5.9 Hotfix Hello, I'm the developer of Three Kingdoms: Alias. We have released the v0.5.9 hotfix. Turn Progression and Defense Fixed an issue that could cause turn progression errors with Messenger enabled. Fixed issues where troop input popups, officer selection filters, or the battle-start screen could fall behind other windows or stop accepting input while organizing a defensive force. Battle and Capture Resolution Fixed an issue where a road field-battle force heading to the same city could be incorrectly cleared when a city siege ended. Fixed an issue where faction elimination could be processed more than once, or the handling order of officers, traveling forces, and prisoners could become inconsistent when a faction was eliminated by city capture or surrender. Other Moved the Random option in new-game ruler selection from the Recommended Rulers list to the Other Rulers list. We…

v0.5.8 Update Hello, I'm the developer of Three Kingdoms: Alias. This update improves new game setup and ruler succession, city public order management, and late-game performance, while fixing several personnel and battle progression issues. New Game and Ruler Succession Final Review and Reroll for the Starting Officer Draft After choosing all starting officers, you can review the final roster. Rerolls have no cost or limit, and only the last confirmed roster will enter service when the campaign begins. Choose a New Ruler After the Ruler's Death When the player ruler dies of natural causes, in battle, by execution, or otherwise, you can personally choose one of your faction's officers as the successor and new ruler. Bandit Uprising Chance Garrison Troops…
- Developer Note #2 - 29 July 2026
Developer Note #2 Hello, I'm the developer of Three Kingdoms: Alias. It has already been two weeks since the Early Access launch. Thanks to the active feedback from so many players over the past two weeks, I have been able to address many shortcomings. However, those improvements have naturally focused on issues that could be addressed quickly, and their limitations have been clear as well. Today, I would like to share longer-term plans to more fundamentally improve the gameplay experience. These plans are based on the direction I have set after considering the wide range of feedback players have shared. 1. Deepening the Talent Management Simulation At the heart of Three Kingdoms: Alias is recruiting, assigning, and managing talent effectively. I want to deepen this core gameplay and create a richer experience. I am planning officer progression systems and items, deeper domestic adminis…

- v0.5.3 Hotfix - 16 July 2026
v0.5.3 Hotfix Hello, I'm the developer of Three Kingdoms: Alias. We have released the v0.5.3 hotfix. This update fixes issues related to coalition diplomacy, Alias and true-name information, and population-change guidance. Coalition Diplomacy Fixed an issue where joining an Anti-Hegemon League or Anti-Traitor League did not apply the intended 30 Favor decrease with the target faction. Fixed an issue where an active league's target faction and its members could form an alliance with each other. Related AI advice and guide-task alliance recommendations have also been corrected. Officer Information and Prisoners Fixed an issue that could disrupt the flow between the Prisoner Disposition window and Officer Information after revealing a prisoner's true name immediately after a city capture. Fixed an issue where a stale prisoner decision could be applied again to an officer who had already be…
- Windows 11 Smart App Control Launch Issue - 16 July 2026
```bbcode Windows 11 Smart App Control Launch Issue Hello, I'm the developer of Three Kingdoms: Alias. We have identified an issue affecting some Windows 11 systems when launching the game. “This file was blocked by an application control policy.” Error code: 0x11C7 This is not a problem with the game's internal logic or save data. It occurs when Windows Smart App Control treats the v0.5.2 executable as a new file and blocks it before the game process starts. This issue is not limited to Three Kingdoms: Alias. It has also been reported intermittently in some Steam and indie games recently. We have submitted the v0.5.2 executable currently distributed through Steam to Microsoft and requested a review of its Smart App Control classification and a possible false positive. The review may take several days or longer, and the exact completion time depends on Microsoft's processing. Once the r…
- Developer Note #1 - 16 July 2026
Developer Note #1 Hello, I'm the developer of Three Kingdoms: Alias. I have just released v0.5.2. Read the v0.5.2 update notes It has been exactly two days since Early Access opened on July 14. Building a game around Alias, a new but uncertain idea, has been a challenge. There was always a real risk that, only after putting in all that time and effort, I would end up thinking: "This does not work as a game." "This feels too forced." "This just is not fun at all." After first revealing the concept, then releasing the demo and gradually updating it, the idea was refined and the game's shape became more concrete. That work was guided by the valuable feedback from demo players. It was also a time to test whether the idea could truly be woven into the mechanics of the genre. Thanks to that, I have come to believe that Alias can work as a game and create a fresh kind of play experience. Now t…
v0.5.2 Update Hello, I'm the developer of Three Kingdoms: Alias. This update improves new game setup, finance and troop management, domestic administration and personnel controls, while also refining battles and late-campaign stability. New Game and Early Campaign After choosing a ruler, you can now select your starting city directly. Recommended cities and region-based lists are available, while Luoyang is marked as the Imperial Court's seat and cannot be selected as a starting city. The game mode selection screen has also been refreshed. The Institutions menu now unlocks by appointing a Chancellor, Personnel Minister, and Intel Minister instead of by owning two cities. This allows you to research Institutions earlier. Unlock requirements for some individual Institutions have also been adjusted. The Post Assignment feature now unlocks at two cities instead of three. The related guide t…
- The 50-Turn Demo Stays Through Early Access Launch - 24 June 2026
The 50-Turn Demo Stays Through Early Access Launch Hello, I'm the developer of Three Kingdoms: Alias. For Steam Next Fest, we extended the demo's play limit from 36 turns to 50 turns. As the event wrapped up, it was originally scheduled to return to 36 turns on June 24. But thanks to that extension, you gave us far more detailed and in-depth feedback than 36 turns ever allowed. The longer play sessions came back to us as much richer opinions. So, to keep that feedback coming right up until launch and to ship the most stable build we can at Early Access, we've decided to keep the 50-turn demo all the way through the Early Access launch on July 14. When Early Access launches, the demo returns to its standard 36-turn limit. In other words, the window from now until launch is the best time to experience the 50-turn demo in depth. We'll review all the feedback you leave and use it as referen…
- v0.3.1/v0.3.2 Demo Updates - 18 June 2026
v0.3.1/v0.3.2 Demo Updates We fixed several issues reported while players tried the v0.3.0 demo, along with a handful of small quality-of-life improvements. v0.3.1 Highlights Fixed flanking movement in battles. The current battlefield simulator still has rough edges, but we are continuing to focus improvements there, so we ask for your understanding where it still falls short. Fixed an issue where skirmish result modals did not appear. Fixed excessive loyalty gains when granting general ranks. Fixed display issues when multiple real-name reveal popups occurred at the same time. Fixed an issue where captured cities could keep old spy intel subscriptions, causing intel values and upkeep costs to keep applying. The left officer selection panel now opens expanded by default. If you collapse it manually, that collapsed state is still remembered. Added an info button to the reputation log pop…
