While you might still see a rare edge-…

  • Chasing Steam Deck Verified: How we halved our GPU load and doubled battery life - 4 June 2026

Hey everyone, Dan here. I’m the Tech Lead for Spooker. We’re currently chasing that magic Steam Deck Verified tag and spent the last few days doing a deep dive into optimization.I wanted to share our exact process and the steps we took to profile and fix our bottlenecks. Hopefully, this helps some of you optimizing your own native Linux builds! The Baseline (Before Optimization)To set the stage, we’ve been pretty hardcore about performance from day one. We use Addressables for manual memory load/unload, mipmap streaming for textures, and audit our code religiously. Instead of heavy loops, our codebase is reactive, using R3 and VContainer for injection, alongside zero-alloc libraries like UniTask to keep our footprint low.Despite all that, here is where our Steam Deck (64GB LCD) was sitting:FPS: Solid 60GPU: 90% at 1520mhzCPU: 40% at 1949mhzVRAM: 2.9 GBRAM: 6.9 GBWhile 60fps is great, sit…

  • 🎱Spin Baby Spin!🎱 - 2 June 2026

The feedback keeps rolling in, and we are absolutely loving it! You all have been busy sinking balls, and we’ve been busy making the experience even better. This week, we tackled one of the biggest requests we received: Physics and Spin. Before diving into the changelist, a quick note on our philosophy: internally, we like to say we are more Mario Kart than Forza. We want Spooker to be our own unique "Pool-like" game, not a rigid, full-blown Snooker simulator. We aim for what feels incredible and fun to play. If a physics tweak is 95% accurate to real life but 100% more fun, that’s the route we’re taking! Here is what’s new in today's update:🔮 Physics & The Big "Spin" UpdateComplete Physics Overhaul: We heard you want a touch more realism, so we re-adjusted everything—from the bumpers and felt friction to individual ball mass. The game just feels incredibly smooth and satisfying now!Cue…
