  • Fargone | October Newsletter - 1 October 2026

Hey everyone! For October’s newsletter, I figured it would be a good time to do another full dev log video, this time discussing some of the major changes coming to NPC logic in Fargone. The 0.6 update is the biggest update to date (again, I know!) and features tons of new content, alongside major reworks and improvements to existing systems. For this newsletter/dev log though, I’ll be focusing specifically on the new NPC Life Logic and what it means for the world of Fargone. One extra thing worth mentioning: 0.6 also includes a huge number of fixes for long standing issues, as well as some pretty major performance improvements. So, if you’ve been experiencing bugs or performance problems, there’s a very good chance you’ll see improvements when the update launches.Hope you enjoy the deep dive into NPC Life Logic, and I’m looking forward to sharing more of 0.6 with you soon!– Jordan

  • Fargone | September Newsletter - 3 September 2026

Hey everyone,It's been a little while since the last development update, so I wanted to share how things are progressing with the next major update for Fargone. I also am planning on doing monthly newsletters going forward to keep you all up to date with what is happening with the game.Development has been moving along really well, and I'm now at the stage where most of the major systems are in place. There's still plenty of polishing, balancing and bug fixing ahead, but the update is well into development now and isn't too far from being ready. This update has grown into one of the biggest I've worked on for Fargone so far. Alongside a complete overhaul of the human AI, you'll also find the return of Arena Mode, new missions that better connect existing storylines, and early work towards built-in mod support to name just a few. There is plenty more coming that I will reveal closer to th…

  • Patch 0.5.1.0 | Rustbound - 2 July 2026

Hey everyone, it's that time again, Fargone is receiving its latest major update today which is jam packed with new features, including the highly requested drivable vehicles! This update also includes language localisation support for 8 new languages, another feature that I know many have been asking for. There are LOTS more big things coming with this update so let's jump in and break them all down!Drive and maintain your own quad bikeWhen you first load in to the Rustbound update, the map will be pre populated with several random spawns of quad bikes. These quad bikes spawn with a range of random conditions (most are worse for wear!) so unless you get very lucky you will likely need to scavenge for parts to get one up and running. Quad bikes require an engine, spark plugs, wheels and fuel to get going. You can find a range of different parts ranging from slow but fuel efficient engin…

  • First look at vehicles in Fargone & Steam Summer Sale - 26 June 2026

Hey everyone, I am in the final polishing stages of wrapping up Fargone's next major update, which will be launching next Wednesday (01/07/2026). This update comes with a lot of big changes and additions, however in today's post I will only be sharing a little about one highly requested feature: vehicles. So let's break down some of the things you can expect with vehicles in Patch 0.5.1.0 Rustbound. What vehicles are coming with the Rustbound update Fargone is taking a slightly different approach with vehicles. As many of you know, I have always tried to define Fargone's space in the market as something between a full-blown survival game and something a bit more curated, like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. With that being said, having tons of scattered vehicles of all types around felt out of place, and also did not align with the lore of the radiation from Hope's Plant frying most vehicles in The Barr…

  • Patch 0.5.0.4b - 1 June 2026

Hey everyone, Another small patch with a very large impact for users with lower-end hardware such as the Steam Deck. With this update, you should see a massive improvement to PIP scope rendering. The GPU load when using a scope has been reduced by around 80% due to a bug fix and several under-the-hood improvements. In addition, weather effects have been further optimised without any loss of visual quality, so overall the game should run noticeably smoother with this update. Graphics Improved post-processing exposure to make the image cleaner Improved legibility of input glyph promptsImprovements Greatly improved PIP scope performance across the board, particularly on lower-end hardware such as the Steam Deck Greatly improved performance of weather effects Improved the resolution rendering system used by PIP scopes Improved the spawner distance check function to better detect when enemie…

Hi everyone, patch 0.5.0.4 is here and comes with something that has been highly requested for some time, full controller support. Additionally, some new QoL improvements come alongside it, such as fixes to the key rebind system in general and a new interaction indicator to make interacting with specific items easier. This is a smaller patch but rest assured work on the next major update (vehicles) is getting close to completion! Controller Support Controller users now have feature parity with keyboard and mouse players, including a new radial menu for using quick slot items, the ability to rebind any button, and the ability to lean left and right. Additionally, controller aiming and movement have been rebuilt entirely to feel much smoother and easier to use. This also includes new features such as aim assist, separated sensitivity values in the settings menu, and proper glyph support i…

  • Patch 0.5.0.3b - 1 May 2026

Hey everyone, this is a smaller patch but it includes a few impactful changes, mainly to lockpicking. I’ve been following your feedback and it was clear that most players didn’t enjoy the dual-axis system. • Patch 0.5.0.3 - 28 April 2026

Hey everyone, this patch comes with a pretty major performance gain. This has been achieved by greatly improving how distant AI are handled. Gameplay-wise, it has zero impact, but performance-wise it massively reduces CPU load. On average, performance gains seem to be around 15–20 FPS, and this will be even more noticeable if you play Fargone on a weaker CPU. Graphics New foliage added to Hazard Zone Improvements Major improvement to distant AI calculations, yielding a very large performance boost AI now play water-specific movement sounds when in water Cooking more complex foods now grants more Survival XP than basic foods Further smoothing of micro-stutters caused by the new origin shift system Companions are now better at keeping up with the player Improved underwater entry detection Improved swimming exit/ground detection Further (and much more impactful) improvements to occasional…

  • Patch 0.5.0.0 | Busy Work Part 2 - 22 April 2026

Hey everyone, the next major update for Fargone is here and it's a big one! This update, as the name suggests, continues the work started with Busy Work Part 1 by overhauling the world. The Plains region prior to this update was one of the more empty areas of the world, and it has now received the full Busy Work treatment with overhauled POIs, brand new POIs and tons more detail added. The update also introduces a brand new AI system for undead, new and improved survival mechanics and much more. This is a huge update so let's dive into the key points. Existing save compatibility Existing saves will work with patch 0.5, however there is a migration that will take place on first load. This migration will reset your character back to level 1. This is because the skill system has been completely reworked from the ground up. You will not lose any equipment or other progress, just your overal…

  • Busy Work Part 2 Release Date - 14 April 2026

Hi everyone,This is another smaller post just to let you all know that I am in the final stages of polishing and wrapping up the next major update, meaning I can reveal the planned release date. Busy Work Part 2 will be dropping on the 22nd of this month. This is slightly later than I had wanted; however, this update has become very large — not just in terms of content, but it is also the biggest update to date in terms of polish, game balance, QOL, and more. I am truly very excited to get this one out, as it's a major upgrade along with a ton of new things to do and explore! In case you missed any of the previous posts discussing the new update, you can read more here: Weapon rebalance: Update announcement: Thank you as always for supporting Fargone! • Busy Work Part 2 Weapon Rebalance - 29 March 2026

Hi everyone,This is more of a shorter update as I am in full on work mode to get this update done, currently during internal testing this update is feeling extremely good, the most polished and well rounded the game has ever felt by a long shot. With that being said I did not want to leave you all completely in the dark so in this post I will be giving a little info on something I have not yet discussed which is the full rebalance coming with patch 0.5. Fargone has long had an issue with guns feel quite similar whilst also all lacking in the same area which is unless it's a headshot, the weapons don't feel punchy. This is changing with 0.5. The guns have not just been rebalanced but the logic behind damage and impact has been rewritten to make weak guns feel as they should and punchy guns more fun to use. This also adds a better sense of progression when getting a sweet new weapon! With…
