- Patch 1.1.2 - A toggle for inverted climbing controls. - 11 February 2025
Not much to say here, just made a decision this morning and implemented it! Added a button for toggling inverted climbing controls in the settings -- they're inverted by default but can be changed to suit preference now. Added a prompt in the tutorial regarding inverted controls, so the option doesn't go unnoticed. Inverted controls are still recommended, because they allow for overall smoother/faster movement, but I decided I'd let people decide what's comfortable. Hope this helps!
- Patch 1.1.1 - 3 February 2025
A few things remained quite terrible in my tutorialization, and while this patch doesn't fix all of them, it should help! Attached gameplay footage to the "Extra reach" and "Momentum" tutorial tips, since the concepts are easier to understand visually than through text. (I may go back and add this to other tips) Created a menu inside the pause screen that contains every tutorial tip you've seen, and can be accessed at any time. Raised the water level in the well to hopefully cut down on the number of players that quit before the game really starts. New players should have an easier time learning the details of the controls, without needing incredible reading comprehension. Good luck!
- Version 1.1.0 - General Escort Mode improvements! - 9 January 2025
Since Escort Mode is still the most challenging, and the least developed part of the game, I thought I'd add something small to improve the multiplayer experience, along with fixing some of the remaining issues. I still have to run through the full game to make sure there aren't any hiccups, but you can expect found problems to be fixed promptly! :D MANUAL BUBBLING DETAILS: Added a button for manual bubbling in Escort Mode, which allows either player to be carried to the other at any time, so long as the collective bubble count is greater than zero. The bubble count will return to three every time you enter an area, whether you fall to a previous section, or progress to the next section. Your number of bubbles will carry between sessions -- forcing you to use bubbling as a fail-safe, rather than an exploit. Bug fixes: Fixed the 'toggle stamina' button in Escort Mode, as it previously ha…
- Patch 1.0.8 - 5 January 2025
Fixes to a few problems I didn't manage to catch before uploading the changes to stamina! Fixed tutorial starting with stamina enabled, rather than activating halfway through. (I didn't add a good override for stamina in the tutorial, so it was just pulling from your settings.) Fixed a bug where you would immediately regenerate stamina upon touching the floor, but only if you haven't touched the toggle stamina button. Reduced stamina regen speed to 125% of the original (down from 200%). My apologies to those who started with that first bug, I'm sure it screwed up the learning curve. ːsteamsadː
- Patch 1.0.7 - 30 December 2024
A few general fixes and additions to help the average player's experience. Includes UI changes, improved level clarity, and extra tutorialization. Added D-Pad support to menus, for those who prefer it to the joystick. Made the rock jump after the Temple Reception building easier with an extra platform. Added a rock warning icon to the edges of the screen, to indicate where a falling rock is while it's outside the camera. Removed the plastic tube exit from the Mining Ravine (because it was only there as an visual hint that didn't serve it's purpose well). Tried to make the momentum tutorial prompt easier to understand: "When letting go of a surface, you'll be thrown from the direction of your joystick, like a pogo stick. Momentum isn't a factor here!" Improved the colorblind settings with a simple text tutorial and smooth color updating. Added a cry button prompt to the top of the Mining…
- Patch 1.0.6 - 27 December 2024
Took some extra time to brainstorm a better implementation of the stamina toggle, that hopefully solves some of the need for one. Stamina changes: Made stamina the default again, but kept the button for toggling it on and off. Increased your amount of stamina by 75%, so you're still forced to get moving, but not forced to perform flawlessly. Doubled the stamina regen speed, since there's usually no gameplay difference in reducing the wait time. Added a warning to the toggle stamina button to make it absolutely clear that the game was NOT designed to be played this way. It is purely an assist mode for those who otherwise would have put the game down. Other changes: Disabled the cry button while the game is paused, since people seem to press B while trying to exit the menu. Fixed the cry sound continuing into the pause screen. Well, I hope this patch helps, I'm going to sleep.
- Patch 1.0.5 - 27 December 2024
Only one change worth mentioning here, but it's a big one: I may go back on it depending on the reception I receive, and find another way to fix the problem instead. Replaced the stamina bars toggle with a toggle for the entire stamina system. This will remove the time limit of stamina, and allow the player to take as long as needed on a given obstacle. You can still re-enable it, as the game was designed around it, but stamina will be off by default. I've noticed the onboarding for my game is remarkably terrible, because it required you to not only learn a complicated control scheme in a difficult area, but do so while progressing over obstacles in about 12 seconds. This simple change should make the beginning more accessible to people just picking up the game, and reduce the difficulty overall -- it isn't a completely positive change, but it should fix the problem until I find somethi…
- Patch 1.0.4 - 21 December 2024
A few very specific changes and additions, to further streamline a first playthrough. Fixed an out-of-bounds respawn that upon winning the game, would cause a visual glitch that teleported Bart to the previous obstacle. Added a tutorial prompt for the plastic tubes that only activates after passing a point on the mountain and falling back down. Added a condition for skipping the boss battle, if you reach it quickly enough. (to save speedrunners from repeating that part every run) Made the 'Bellyful of friendship...' achievement easier to earn, through removing one of the previous conditions. I doubt this'll make too much of a difference for people, but it's another step in the right direction!
- Patch 1.0.3 - 21 December 2024
A few more small issues I found after watching others play through the last build of the game! Assigned the dazed sound effect to an audio mixer, so that it responds to the volume sliders. Added a cooldown to automatic crying, so it doesn't repeat so many times in the windier areas. Made the evil coins look sufficiently sinister, so that grabbing them and falling is due to deadly curiosity instead of blind trust. (I already had part of this implemented, but it was too subtle for the consequence of overlooking it) Hope this gets the game in an even better state, I'll continue to iron things out as I find more problems.
- Patch 1.0.2 - 18 December 2024
I overlooked a bug in the last build to do with creating a new Escort mode save, and along with fixing that, I made the tutorial prompts more predictable and informative. Fixed the Escort mode new game button deleting your Solo mode save. (so sorry I forgot about checking this!) Made the new tutorial prompts appear immediately upon entering their respective areas, rather than waiting 90 seconds to give you the tip. Replaced the "Cry-Button" prompt in the Mining Ravine with a tip about blocking the rocks with your hands, to hopefully increase the number of people who make it past that area. A big thanks to those who found these issues and sent them my way! (I'll be looking into how online multiplayer works for Escort mode soon!)
- Patch 1.0.1 - 16 December 2024
After watching the first few people progress, I noticed everyone seemed to get stuck at the same few sections, and hopefully this patch will fix that. Added a tutorial prompt to the Temple Reception building, regarding the stretching of hands to reach farther. Moved the tutorial prompt for pogo-jumping to the bottom of the Hollowed Tree, to cover momentum instead. (in order to note that it's mostly unimportant.) Increased time between rocks falling at the Mining Ravine, to allow players to better time their climb through it. Hopefully this helps with some of the frustration! :D
